A Trump cabinet secretary broke a law prohibiting federal employees from using public office for private gain that also includes endorsements when he told TV viewers last week to buy Tesla stock, but it's not clear anything will be done about it.
The comment came from commerce secretary Howard Lutnick a week after President Trump turned the White House lawn into a Tesla informercial for Elon Musk's cars.
Normally, publlc officials endorsing products draws calls for investigations from the government's top ethics lawyer, but Trump fired that person, along with other key ethics officials.
