 Gate 5 : Gwan(寬,관)... Generosity(Tolerance) ... Artiale 267.

봄에 꽃을 심고 가꾸어 빨리 꽃을 보고 져 함은 너그러움을 이해 하는 것이며,

  Planting and cultivating flowers in spring with the desire to see them bloom

  quickly represents understanding generosity.

태양이 하늘의 중앙에 위치하여 밝음이 四海(사해)에 고루 미치는 것은 너그러움이 형체를 이룬 것이다.

  The sun taking its position in the center of the sky so that its brightness reaches

   evenly across the four seas is generosity taking form.

너그러움을 이해하고, 형체를 이루는 것이 함께 갗추어지면哲人(철인)의 道(도)에 가까운 것이다.

  When understanding generosity and giving it form are combined,

  one approaches the way(道,도) of a wise person(sage).

栽培春花하여 迅于見花者는 寬之理也요 (재배춘화하여 신우견화자는 관지리야요)

  Cultivating spring flowers and eagerly wishing to see them bloom quickly represents

  the principle(Ri) of generosity(Gwan).

日在中天에 四海通明者는 寬之形也라 (일재중천에 사해통명자는 관지형야라)

  The sun high in the maddle of the sky illuminating the four seas with brightness

   represents the form(Hyeong) of generosity(Gwan).

理形이 俱成이면 哲人之道 近焉이니라. (이형이 구성이면 철인지도 근언이니라.)

  When both principle and form are fully realized together,

  one draws close to the Way(道,도) of a wise person(sage).
