The Plot to Kill Paul 바을을 살해할 음모

23:12. The next morning｜the Jews formed a conspiracy｜and bound themselves with an oath｜not to eat or drink｜until they had killed Paul.

* bind oneself with : ---으로 자신을 묶다 be bound with : --으로 묶여있다

• bind oneself with an oath : 맹세하다 [맹세로 자신을 구속했다]

※⟪NOTE⟫ ⑴ until과 till의 차이 until은 문장의 앞이나 긴 clause 앞에 쓰며, till은 명사나 짧은 clause 앞에 오는 경향이 있음.

※⑵ until, till과 by, before와의 차이 by는 ‘…까지’의 뜻으로 기한을 나타내며, before는 ‘…이전에, …하기 전에’의 뜻으로 till, until과 같이 계속의 뜻은 없음: Can you finish your work by tomorrow? 내일까지 일을 끝낼 수 있겠습니까. Think well before you decide. 결정하기 전에 잘 생각해라. *

【해석 1】다음 날[이튿날] 아침에 / 유태인들은 모의를 하였다.[음모를 꾸몄다]. 그리고 맹세하였다[. / 먹거나 마시지 않겠다는 / 그들이 바울로를 죽이기 전까지는 [바울로를 죽이고 나서야 먹고 마시겠다는 맹세를 하였다]

【해석 2】이튿날 아침에, 유태인들은 모의를 하고[음모를 꾸미고] 또 그들이 바울로를 죽이기 전까지는 먹거나 마시지 않겠다는 맹세하였다. [바울로를 죽이고 나서야 먹고 마시겠다는 맹세를 하였다]

행23:12 이튿날 아침에 유다인들은 작당을 하고 바울로를 죽이기 전에는 먹지도 않고 마시지도 않겠다고 맹세하였다.

12. 夜が 明けると， ユダヤ 人たちは 陰謀をたくらみ， パウロ を 殺すまでは 飮み 食い しないという 誓いを 立てた．
