<P>• These apples look so delicious and fresh : 사과 정말 맛있고 신선하게 보이네요.<BR>- 이 문장에서 look은 ~로 보인다 라는 뜻의 동사인데요, 뒤에는 adjective즉 형용사가 옵니다. 여기서는 맛있는 이란 뜻의 형용사 delicious 와 신선한 이란 뜻의 fresh가 나왔습니다.</P>
<P>- 예를 들어, ‘당신 오늘 정말 예뻐 보인다’ 를 영어로 하면 ‘You look so pretty today’ 하시면 됩니다. 또 동사 look 대신에 taste나 smell 같은 동사를 넣어서 다양한 문장을 만들 수도 있는 데요, 예를 들어 ‘이 사과 정말 맛있다’ 영어로 하면 ‘These apples look so delicious’ 에서 ‘look’ 이라는 동사 대신에 ‘~맛이 나다’라는 뜻의 동사죠, ‘taste’ 만 넣으시면 됩니다. 그래서 These apples taste so delicious 하면 이 사과 정말 맛있다 라는 뜻이 되죠! 또 이 사과 정말 맛있는 냄새가 난다 를 영어로 하면, ‘These apples smell so delicious’ 하면 됩니다.</P>

<P>- Pound는 무게를 재는 단위이고요, 1파운드는 454 gram 정도 됩니다. 1파운드가 몇 그램이죠? 영어로 하려면, How many grams are in a pound? 하시면 됩니다.<BR>‘1파운드당 2달러 입니다’를 영어로 하면 They are two dollars per pound 하시면 됩니다. 무게를 재는 단위에는 Kilogram도 있는데요, ‘1kg 당 1달러입니다’ 를 영어로 하면 ‘They are a dollar per kilogram’ 하실 수 있습니다. Sort of~ 랑 바꿔 쓰실 수 있습니다. 그래서 That’s sort of expensive. 라고 바꿔 쓰실 수 있습니다. 예를 들어 어떤 문제가 어려운데 그렇게 어렵지는 않고 조금 어렵다고 표현할 때, This problem is kind of difficult. 하실 수 있습니다. 또 누군가의 말이 조금 이해가 가기는 하지만 완전히 이해가 되지 않을 때 ‘I kind of (sort of) understand what you are saying, but not completely.’ 하실 수 있습니다. Kind of~ , Sort of~ 아주 유용하게 쓰이는 표현이니까요, 꼭 기억해 두세요!</P>
<P>• Can you give me a lower price? 좀 깎아 주실 수 있나요? 가격을 흥정 할 때 쓰실 수 있는 표현입니다. Can you come down a little more on this? , Can you give me a discount? 이 물건 좀 깎아 주실 수 있나요? 해도 같은 말입니다.</P>
<P>• 이거 그냥 거저 가져가는 거나 마찬가지에요: That’s a great buy. You are getting a great deal.</P>
<P>• Dozen: a group of twelve- 12개를 말합니다. 그래서 Then, I will get a dozen. 하면 그러면 12개를 사겠습니다. 라는 말이죠. dozen 을 이용해 6개를 표현하려면 Half a dozen 또는 a half-dozen 하시면 됩니다. a dozen, 12개의 half 반, 그러니까 6개를 의미합니다. 또 dozen 을 이용해 24개를 표현 하려면 two dozens 하시면 됩니다. 12개의 2묶음이니까 24개를 의미합니다.</P>
<P>• Here you go : 물건을 건네주면서 쓸 수 있는 표현입니다. ‘여기 있습니다’ 라는 뜻이죠. There you go 해도 같은 말입니다.</P>
