teacher who is serious and strict is more effective than a teacher who is
humorous and easygoing.
Over the past few decades, many types of
teachers have educated students of all ages in many different fields. So, it
has been argued whether a serious teacher is more effective than a humorous and
easygoing teacher. Some might argue that serious teachers are more effective,
while the other might think otherwise. However, I am deeply convinced that humorous
teachers who are easygoing are more effective in educating students. Actually,
I have a couple of reasons to support my idea and will explain and develop them
in the next following paragraphs below.
First of all, humorous and easygoing teachers
tend to provide easier learning environment for students who are willing to study.
By making funny jokes and making an easygoing atmosphere, students of all ages
would be able to learn in a more relieved place. Although some people might say
that naughty students would emerge if the teachers aren’t strict, that’s the reason
why school rules exist. To give a movie as an example of this, I recently saw a
movie about a teacher illegally tricking everyone that he’s a substitute teacher
in a private school. He’s actually a rocker that was kicked out of his own
band, and he is in great need of money. However, unlike the other private
school teachers, he acts as a very humorous and easygoing teacher who only know
how to teacher playing musical instrument in rock and roll style. After a few
days, his own students starts to realize that he’s a very special teacher and
they become eager to study whatever he teaches. The whole class becomes a rock
band called ‘School of Rock’. The thing we can learn here is that the style of
teaching teachers uses is very important. Being strict and rigorous can
sometimes negatively affect students by discouraging them to learn. Although
learning is never a fun activity at all, students tend to focus more when the
atmosphere feels like a fun activity. It is also proven that a high percentage
of students who are dreaming to be school teachers are all inspired by fun teachers
that once taught them. Fun teachers also have higher percentages of
participation of students. This is in regard of the fact that funny and
easygoing teachers are more effective in learning.
Moreover, teachers with humorous and
easygoing teaching personality have stronger bonds with their students because
students are able to reach out to them more easily. Teachers who are strict are
less likely to have bonds with their students because students are mostly
afraid to speak to such teachers. However, a truly good teacher must not only
teach about scholastic knowledge but also life lessons as well. To give an
example of this, I used to have a hard time in 8th grade. I was not
only bullied in school, but also abused by my father. My mother ran away from
home, and sometimes my father would kick me out and make me wander around in
the night. In such a harsh environment and situation, I met a science teacher
in class. He was super funny and he understood all my mistakes and naughty
doings. When I was having the hardest time in my life, I went to his class and
asked for him to help me. He helped me get over my problems one by one. He
helped me make friends, work things out with my father and even find my mother
by reporting to the police. When he asked me why it was him who I asked for
help, I told him that he was the only person that didn’t make me feel afraid
and alone. Due to this experience, I learned that true teachers are people who
not only engrave knowledge on your head but also on the tablet of your heart.
