Commentary on John 8 (4) - Freedom
Look at John 8:31. “To the Jews who believed in him, Jesus said, "If you continue in my word, then you are my disciples indeed.’”
Yes right? God always speaks to those who believe in Jesus.
To the Jews who believed in Jesus, he said, ‘If you continue in my word,’ if you remain in the word, you become disciples of the Lord and disciples who learn the Lord.
Therefore, we too must learn Christ.
As we abide in the Word, we must learn how the Lord speaks as God speaks... how the Lord bears the yoke with his Father... these things.
We must learn the Lord by listening to the Word and staying in it.
Pray to learn according to the Lord.
Then you will know the truth.
That truth sets us free.
Actually, you should first learn what this means.
First, we must abide in the words of the Lord.
We must abide in the Word.
Also, the Word must dwell within us.
So the Spirit of truth came into us.
If you learn the Lord, you will understand the truth.
When you learn the truth, you gain freedom.
Freedom from sin, from the flesh, from the world.
By the Spirit of Christ...
This is not just knowledge.
It is actually learning in Christ. (Matthew 11:29)
Freedom is not being bound by anything.
You can only pursue love if you become free.
We may become entangled in the life of the flesh at any time as darkness and sin dictate.
If you get caught up in it, you won't be able to do anything else at that moment.
Because the loser becomes the servant of the one who wins, the servant just does what the master tells him to do.
Likewise, in Galatians 5 it says, “It is for freedom that Christ set us free; Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery” (Galatians 5:1).
Then he says, “Serve one another humbly in love.” (Galatians 5:13) After that, he says, “Walk in the Spirit.” (Galatians 5:16)
We need to learn this principle.
When we are bound by sin, death, and the flesh, not only can we not gain freedom through the truth, but even though we have a desire to love, we can never serve in love.
This means that although we know that it is right to follow the Holy Spirit, we cannot do so because we are already held as slaves by something.
Therefore, from the moment we abide in the word of the Lord and the Lord dwells in us, we learn the Lord, and through learning the Lord, we know the truth and gain freedom.
So God's will is to make us free in the Lord like himself.
Heaven is a place where only free people can enter.
Positive freedom is something you can give to others.
Freedom from any bondage, freedom to set others free, but the sad thing is, I see that I still have a lot of the leaven of the flesh left in me.
Although it is almost gone now, rather than the freedom to set others free, I know that the pickiness of trying to bind others has remained for a long time.
We still have the old self of the court spirit that condemns others.
We must be careful that these attributes still remain within us.
Many people tend to act in a way that makes others think they are okay by saying that other people's actions are right or wrong just because their eyes have become brighter through the Word.
This is at a very childish level.
It’s at the level of saying, ‘Do this, do that.’
That is why Paul says that there are ten thousand instructors in Christ, but few fathers.(1 Corinthians 4:15)
What I have realized so far is that I need to do a lot of intercessory prayer for others.
For as many people as I can think of.
However, when some people tell them to pray intercessory prayer, there are also people who cannot do it because they feel unfair because they think the person they are praying for will receive a blessing while they themselves will not receive the blessing.
If I tell you to pray for your husband, why do I do it? He's playing well on her own...
I am the only one who is having a hard time.
A person like that is bound to something.
If we pray intercessory prayers, will the person receiving our prayers benefit? Will I benefit?
If we give birth to and raise a child, does the child benefit? Do parents benefit? Parents benefit much more.
People who do not have children now will realize this keenly when they get older.
As we go through hardships while giving birth to and raising children, we become more aware of God’s love.
You are becoming complete as a mother and father.
So someone said, A woman achieves her salvation through her labor in childbirth.
This is the same for both physical and spiritual.
In other words, the more a person goes through the labor of childbirth through intercessory prayer, the closer she gets to the attributes of God.
Intercessory prayer has this blessing.
That is why I recommend that you pray a lot.
However, if you do not have faith through which love works, you will become jealous and you will not be able to do it.
There will never be a case where you judge, condemn, and cut down a person with a single word after much intercessory prayer.
Such mishaps will never happen.
You cannot allow such mishaps to keep happening within you.
Then, you will not be a servant of the Lord, but a servant of Satan, an expert in accusations.
This is because Satan, like a serpent, can discern good and evil wisely.
There is no being under heaven who know well than Satan when it comes to good and evil.
God does not distinguish between right and wrong, but between life and death, light and darkness, and heaven and earth.
That is why He delivers us from there and saves us.
You don't know how many of God's servants are being accused by Satan because they only discern between good and evil.
It is like the Pharisee who constantly follows and condemns a woman caught in adultery and uses that snare to lure even Jesus into it.
They are not God's servants, but Satan's servants.
However, we must have the freedom to pass on the truth to others and the ability to make the truth real for them.
Therefore, beings with truth are self-existent beings.
By whom? It is through the Lord Jesus Christ who is within us.
