그녀의 11번째 스튜디오 앨범 Diana (1980)의 리드 싱글로 발매했습니다. 

이 노래는 1980년 9월 6일 Billboard Hot 100 차트 에서 1위를 차지했고 4주 동안 그 자리를 지켰습니다.

 Billboard Disco 와 Soul 차트 에서도 1위를 차지했습니다 . 

싱글은 앨범이 발매된 지 무려 4주 후에 발매되었습니다.

"Upside Down"은 국제적으로도 큰 인기를 끌었으며,
