Summary:
Christ has been raised from the dead as the first fruits of those who have died. Since death came through a man (Adam), the resurrection of the dead also comes through a man (Christ). In Adam all die, but in Christ all will be made alive—each in proper order: Christ first, then those who belong to Him at His coming.
After this, the end comes, when Christ hands over the kingdom to God the Father, having abolished every rule, authority, and power. He must reign until He has put all enemies under His feet. The last enemy to be abolished is death. God has subjected all things under Christ, but when it says all things are subjected, it is understood that God Himself is excepted. When all things are finally subjected to Christ, then the Son Himself will also be subjected to the One who subjected all things to Him, so that God may be all in all.
Teaching:
Resurrection, Scripture says, came through one man. Just as all people died in Adam, all people have been given life in Christ. Though Jesus was crucified and died on the cross, He became the first fruits of the resurrection; therefore, anyone who believes in Him receives the forgiveness of sins. And not only that—just as Jesus was raised, we too can be raised.
The statement that all receive life in Christ means that in our daily lives now, we can live as those who have been raised with Christ, living with a faith that is alive. Therefore, day by day, we ought to live as the first fruits dedicated to God, and live with a living, active faith.
