Government
now has enough funds to invest on ONE for developing young children’s
education. Choose one and explain details and examples.
-Hiring
more teachers in each class so that fewer students take a class
-Establishing
more preschools for children who are from three to four years old
-Training
teachers to learn new methods of teaching students
Over the past few decades, the government
has tried many ways to develop children’s education according to the change of
society. So, it has been argued which among hiring more teachers, establishing
more preschools, and training teachers to learn new methods should be most
invested on for the sake of children’s education. Some might argue that hiring
more teachers or establishing more preschools would be the most effective ways,
while others might not think so. However, I am deeply convinced that the
government should invest on training teachers to learn new methods in order to
develop young children’s education. Actually, I have a couple of reasons that
support my idea and would like to develop them in the next following paragraphs
below.
First of all, the government has to invest
funds on teaching teachers new methods because they must teach different types
of young children who each have different backgrounds. Children come from
different corners of the country. Each child has different family backgrounds,
different preferences, different interests and different weaknesses. In order
to teach these young kids, teachers must hold a variety of new methods in their
hands. Although some people might say that hiring more teachers in each class
would be most beneficial to young students’ education because each teacher can
individually focus on fewer children, making teachers responsible for fewer
kids won’t improve their education without any kind of plan or method. To give
an example of this, I watched a documentary about a young woman who changed the
lives of children a long time ago. Many centuries before, teachers had no such
method in teaching children. Children were to sit on desks that were all facing
the board. They were to be punished whenever they did not raise their hands,
made a mess or even when they spoke too loudly. However, at the end of the
year, anyone would barely have the ability to read, which means that most of
them learned nothing in school. This kind of education went on for centuries. One
woman in the late 19th century was going to be a teacher and wanted to change
this. She made a classroom of her own, which had very light chairs that could
be moved around, toys in boxes, and decorations on ceilings. She taught
children with new methods. She was very nice to them, enjoyed students speaking
out without raising their hands, and wanted everyone to hunger for more
education. To this day, that method is being used in thousands of preschools,
thousands of nurseries, and even many of handicap children schools. If the
government just had chosen to decrease the number of students for each class
and increase the number of teachers without new teaching methods, nothing would’ve
changed. Therefore, I strongly think that training teachers to learn new
methods of teaching students is the best way to improve children’s education.
Moreover, the government should invest on teaching
teachers new ways and methods to teach young students because education is
always evolving and becoming more specific. Over the past years, children
education has changed its’ requirements, and what children really need is becoming
more specific and complex every day. For instance, in the past, students just
came to school, learned the basics and went home. Today, young students are
having multifarious programs that connect them with their parents, their friends,
their interests, and their creativities. This explains that their requirements
are changing and becoming more specific and elaborate. Although some people
might say that establishing more preschools for children who are from three to
four years old would be the best way to make more children meet with better
education, it would be meaningless to make more preschools that have no
specifically trained teachers who lead advanced educational programs. For
example, a research was conducted by KSC (Korean Statistical Center of Korea). It
shows two types of schools. The first type is schools that have multiple
programs and teachers who are trained every three years. The other type is
schools with a few original programs and teachers who don’t get trained. The
data shows that the students who went to the first school were more confident in
learning and being creative, while students who went to the other school had no
strong interest in learning at all. According to the data, the parents of the
students who went to the first type of schools claimed that the school’s
teachers were not only intelligent but also very modern in education. The
parents also explained that they felt relieved because their students were
being taught in developing teaching methods that matched along with constantly
evolving education. Therefore, I think that training teachers is more important
than anything else because teachers are the pillars of young student’s
education.
