Summary
Paul answers the question of how the dead are raised and what kind of body they will have. He explains that resurrection works like a seed: what is sown is perishable, but what is raised is imperishable. Our earthly bodies are natural, weak, and mortal, but the resurrected body will be spiritual, glorious, and powerful.
Just as God gives each seed its own body, He will give believers a new, transformed body. There is an order: the natural body comes first, then the spiritual. We have borne the image of the first man, Adam—earthly and dust-like—but in the resurrection we will bear the image of the last Adam, Christ, who is from heaven.
Teaching:
Our Lord Jesus has always been full of life. Even though His body died, the life within Him rose again. The resurrection power we receive from Jesus means that even if this body dies, it will live again; and even while we are alive, our bodies can operate with the power of the resurrection. This power enables us to resist any sin, any sinful desire, and to live by faith.
Outwardly, we bear the image of one made from dust (our bodies look no different from those who do not believe), but the life given to us is the life of Jesus - the life-giving Spirit who dwells within us. Though we live in a body formed from the dust, our daily lives must be lived as those who belong to heaven.
