Power english(Meal kits)
S : I finally placed a full order for a week of meal kits. I'm glad I tested out a few different companies.
N : Yeah, it's better to err on the side of caution when you're committing your food budget.
S : It's beyond me how they can make it so inexpensive.
N : I think because they're preparing the same meal kits for a lot of people, it costs them less.
S : I never thought of this as a mass-production kind of industry./ N: Yeah, but not in the same way that fast food is.
D: How do you like working in Korea so far?
J: It's been great. My co-workers are really friendly and I have a nice apartment. But my favorite thing is the food.
D: Yeah, it's a really international city when it comes to food.
J: No, I'm talking about Korean food. And more specifically, street food. It's amazing what delicious snacks you can get when you're on the go.
D: What's your favorite so far?/ J: Well, I haven't tried everything, but you can't go wrong gimbap.
D: I can't believe you live a stone's throw from Hapjeong Station and have never tried Mapo mando.
J: Cut me some slack, I've only been here a month!/ D: Haven't you been reading my blog? I dedicated five posts to Mapo mandu.
J: I didn't realize you were such a foodie! I'll read the posts when I get home.
D: Sorry, but we have to fix this error right now. When we get to Hapjeong, I'm introducing you to the best mandu in Korea.
J: Whatever you say, Dakota, I'll just follow your lead./ D: You look a bit run-down. Did you have breakfast?
J: Sadly, no, In fact, I've missed breakfast every day this week. I usually live on coffee until lunchtime.
D: Follow me. If you're used to having eggs and toast every morning like me, this will be your favorite place to stop on the way to work.
J: I walk by this place every day. What do they sell?/ D: It's gyeran-ppang, or "egg bread."
J: They look and smell great! I'll probably be a regular here./ D: Josh, you have some red stuff on your chin. Here, let me get it for you.
J: Thanks. I just had some tteokbokki. I always see kids eating it, so I had to give it a try./D:I don't like when it's swimming in sauce.
J: That was the best part! I think the sweet and spicy sauce goes hand in hand with the understated flavor of the tteok .
D: That's a great description! Maybe you could write a guest blog post for me about it./ J: I start writing it today!

B: Same here. I woke up drenched in sweat. This is unbearable, honestly.
A: Should we get fans? Or sleep somewhere else temporarily.
B: I bought two fans this morning. They should help us get through the nights.

A: One week of this. How are we supposed to survive?/ B: (sighs) Coffee. Lots and lots of coffee.

A: 선풍기를 살까?

A: The fans are just pushing hot air around/ B: Should we check into a hotel or just ride this out somewhere cool?
A: That's expensive though. And we already paid for the repair appointment.
B: True. Maybe I'll call again. See if there's a cancelation or something./ A: Give it a try. We're desperate at this point.

A: I'm serious! They had a sudden cancelation. Someone can come tomorrow morning!

B: We're finally back to normal. I can actually sleep tonight without sweating.
A: You know. I totally took for granted having cool air whenever we wanted it.
B: Same here. I never thought about it until it was gone.
A: This whole experience made me appreciate simple things more, honestly.

A: (laughs) I'm never complaining about our electric bill again./ B: Let's not go that far! But yeah, this de gave us perspective.

Power english(best shaved)
A: I've been looking forward to trying authentic Korean bingsu since I landed!/ B: You picked the perfect time. Summer is bingsu season here.
A: Where can I find the best one? I want the real deal, not a tourist trap/B: There's famous spot in Insadong. People line up for hours though.
A: I don't mind waiting. I'm set on having the best experience.
B: (laughs) You're serious about this! Okey, let's go tomorrow morning so we can beat the crowds

A: (tasting) Oh, my good. This is incredible! So light and refreshing./ B: Right? The shaved ice just melts in your mouth.

A: So, how many bingsu places have you hit up this week?/ B: Five. I'm on a mission. Each one has been amazing.

A: (laughs) You've become a bingsu monster./ B: No regrets. This is the best food research ever
A: I can't believe I'm leaving tomorrow. I'm going to miss out on bingsu season.
B: You can always come back next summer! Consider it your annual tradition.
A: Honestly? I'm already planning it. I'm hooked on this stuff now./ B: Did you find your number one favorite flavor?
A: The patbingsu at that traditional café./ B: Good choice. That place has stood the test of time for years.
A: I dream about it until I return. Think they ship internationally? (laughs)
