July 20th.
I’m just so hyper now that nobody in the world, nothing on earth can calm me down. I’m not necessarily agitated, but for sure I’m excited since I got the reply from the assistant to the Canadian Opposition leader, Stephen Harper, whom I’ve talked about a lot especially during the election season. Just to make this clear, I used to support the Conservative party of Canada of course as an unofficial supporter, and the leader of the party, the candidate was Mr Harper who is stunningly handsome, tut tut, of course that is not the reason I fancy him as a potential Prime Minister.
Anyway, on the day of downfall which had been expected by some bold critics because of the conservatives’ rather unorganized attitudes towards social issues and away too confident attitude about the outcome, I sent an email to Mr Harper through the feedback on the website of the conservative party. I knew it would be really hard for the letter to reach him directly because the feedback was merely made to hear the public’s ideas on overall policies or something like that. But still, I sent it naming that it is a letter to Mr Harper and asked the person whoever would read it to deliver this to Mr Harper. I was pretty confident about my ideas even though the fact that I just scribbled it and sent is still poking my heart.
Then today I got the reply which is following:

Dear Miss Yu:
On behalf of Stephen Harper, thank you for your recent message outlining several election suggestions. Please be assured that your constructive comments have been brought to Mr. Harper’s attention. We truly appreciate your support for our party.
Sincerely,
Salpie Stepanian
Assistant to the Leader

I couldn’t believe my eyes. I tried to calm down myself by saying that it would have been possible for them to just pretend to have read it and send a reply to keep their supporters. But for sure, they read mine because it was pretty much about election campaigning stuff I wrote even though I only named it that it is about policies because that is the best option I had at that time, and clearly, they found that out of course by reading it! Also, I don’t think it’s an automatic answer because the mail does not have a title which is so common for group mails. And for this time, I want to be assured that Mr Harper could really read my suggestions. I am pretty confident that this secretary wrote this only for me considering small things I found on the email, and also considering the fact that not many people write things directly to Mr Harper and especially after the election was over. To be honest, I’m proud of myself for not thinking that it is over after the end of the election, and the proofs can be found, of course, in the email I sent to Mr Harper.
I am happy. I am just so happy. Because from today, I do not have to say I’m just dabbling in politics. Now, I’m really in it, and it is one of the first steps for me to my future: the future I’ve always dreamed of.
첫댓글 politics.... im not really into it..... and besides who cares about Canadian elections =p j/k
not a good joke, because I find that very rude and ignorant. hmmm. i know you were joking, hopefully, but i'm kinda sensitive about Canada-US those stuffs. well. nm what i said. actually, you are not the first american who's saying that. so, well. kinda understand. hmm. at least tryin to.
