Casting Away Carnal Desires( The 20th Princple) [Core Text Transation]     ■ Definition of Terms.       ● "Rejecting"(斥,척) means to repel or cast away,           and "passion"(情,정) refers to carnal desires(情慾,정욕).     ■ The Principles of a Righteous Mind.       ● Ifyou hold onto joy and anger, you cannot attain a righteous mind.       ● If you hold onto liking and loathing, you cannot attain a righteous mind.       ● If you seek comfort and pleasure, you cannot attain a righteous mind.       ● If you detest poverty and humbleness, you cannot attain a righteous mind.    Conclusion : therefore, if you wish to attain a righteous mind,                          you must first cast away carnal desires.    [Original Text ]       ■ 斥은 却也요 情은 情慾也라 (척은 각야요 정은 정욕야라)         "Cheok" (斥,척) means to repel or cast away,           and "Jeong" (情,정) refers to carnal desires(情慾,정욕).       ■ 有喜怒則不得正心하고 有好惡則不得正心하고          (유희노즉부득정심하고     유호오즉 부득정심하고)          If there is joy and anger,  one cannot attain a righteous mind,          if there is liking and loathing, one cannot attain a righteous mind.       ■ 求逸樂則不得正心하고 厭貧賤則不得正心하나니          (구일락즉부득정심하고     염빈천즉부득정심하나니)          If one seeks comfort attain arighteous mind,          if one detests poverty and humbleness, one connot attain a righteous mind.         ■ 欲正心인대 先斥情慾이니라.
