원수사랑 The love for enemies

◎ 원수를 미워해서는 안 됩니다. 또한 원수가 망하는 것을 보고 기뻐해서도 안 됩니다. 만일 하나님이 원수가 망하는 것을 보고 기뻐하신다면 이 세계는 남아질 수 없을 것입니다. 하나님이 사탄까지도 미워할 수 없기에 선생님도 그러합니다. (천성경 364-16)

Do not hate your enemy. Do not rejoice at your enemy’s ruin. If God were happy to see His enemy ruined, this world would no longer exist. When God cannot hate anyone, not even Satan, how can I?

◎ 선생님은 하나님을 보면 가슴이 미어집니다. 하나님의 사정을 생각하면 하늘 뜻을 반대하는 삼천만 민족이 밉기도 합니다. 그러나 그런 생각을 하다가도 하나님이 지금까지 복귀섭리를 해 나오시면서 참아 나오신 것을 생각하면 부끄러운 생각이 듭니다. (천성경 363-12)

When I see God, I feel heartrending sorrow. When I think of God’s situation, sometimes I feel resentful toward the thirty million Korean people who are opposing God’s Will. But when I think of His suffering throughout the six thousand years of providential history, of His endless endurance as He leads the providence of restoration, I feel ashamed.

◎ 선생님은 민족과 세계로부터 조롱받고 몰리면서도 원수의 무리를 어떻게 해서라도 하나님의 뜻 앞으로 돌이키기 위해서 누구보다도 사랑해 주었습니다. 사랑할 뿐만 아니라 복을 빌어 주었습니다. (천성경 365-18)

While the entire Korean people ridiculed me and the world persecuted me, I loved my enemies more than anyone else in order to bring them back to God. I not only loved them, I even wished blessings on them.
