GEO zones are geographical areas that restrict or facilitate the operation of drones, or Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS).

They are designed to protect the privacy of others and minimize safety risks. 

Here are some examples of GEO zones:

Restricted zones: These zones prohibit flight, such as airport runways. 

Altitude zones: These zones restrict the flight altitude. 

Authorization zones: Flight is restricted by default, but users with a verified DJI account can self-unlock. 

Warning zones: These zones trigger warnings that inform users of potential risks.

The DJI GEO system provides drone pilots with real-time information about these zones. However, the GEO system is advisory only, and users are responsible for checking official sources and determining what laws or regulations might apply to their flight. 

To unlock a GEO zone on a DJI drone, users can: 

Select the device and DJI account to unlock

Draw a circle or polygon on the map, or import area information

Verify with a text message

The GEO system does not cover Military Operations Areas (MOAs), Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs), Military Training Routes (MTRs), or Special Use Airspace (SUAs).
