Topic1. Qualitytime on the weekend
Do youhave any plans for the weekend? I hope you do. If you don’t check out thecultural page in your local paper or on the internet –or just sit down, and think of some things that you want to do.
I hope togo on a small road trip this weekend. I have a few ideas, but I haven’t decidedexactly where to go.
What youdo on the weekend obviously depends on the weather. If it’s nice and warmoutside, we often play in the water. This means that we could have a waterfight with squirt guns outside the house. Or we could go to the ocean andsplash in the water there. When it’s really cold, welike to go sledding. You can pay and go on man-made slopes. But we like to graba box and slide down the slippery slopes with the neighborhood kids.
So, what’s it going tobe this weekend-indoor stuff: bowling, shopping, walking around a museum? Oroutdoor stuff: going for a hike, a bike ride, or simply a walk? Of course, youcan always stay home and play a board game or watch a family video alltogether. Sometimes, we buy a jigsaw puzzle and put it together on the kitchentable while just talking to each other. It’s nice towork together as a team.
I hope tospend some quality time with my family even if it’s for a short time. I wantto focus on the quality. I hope you and your loved ones also get to spend somequality time together. It’s not just how much time youspend with someone but how well you spend the time with that person thatcounts. It’s the quality, not the quantity, that’s important.
Remember… if you don’t have a plan for the weekend yet, take a moment, and make one!

Topic2. Life Styles
Peoplehave different life styles. Some only pursue self-oriented happiness withoutconsidering other people. They get happiness from wielding political powerand economic influence over others.
They seemto think they are happy. But they are actually disappointed after all: since man's desire is endless, nothing can satisfy their needs. Theymust remember that the first step to happiness is to restrict one's desire. Priests, monks, nuns are the outstandingexamples of those who try to be happy by refraining from worldly passion. Theythink they're happy because they're living the way God orders them tolive. For them, however, one question also remains : Are they"really" happy if they have no personal autonomy?
A thirdgroup consists of very ordinary people. They have no political or economicpower. They're at the mercy of political ups and downs and theeconomic situation. But they treasure their families and valuelittle things from which they can get happiness. They're happyif they have three meals a day, a car, a summer vacation, enough money toeducate their children.
They feelhappy when they play tennis instead of golf. They're happywith a compact car and never worry about driving a sedan. Who are thehappiest people? Who knows? If you think you're happy, youare. Happiness is how you think about yourself and the world you livein.
