Commentary on the Gospel of John - Attributes of Christ (3)
When we come into John 9, our Lord Jesus Christ becomes the eye.
That is why those who have opened their eyes cannot see Jesus Christ,
and eyes are made for those who were born blind. He made it by clay of the spittle.
This is the history of creation. In Chapter 2 of Genesis, God formed man of dust of the ground
and breathed life into his nostrils, and he became a living soul (Genesis 2:7).
Jesus anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay.
Then, as He was told to go to Siloam and wash, he went and washed, and his eyes were now able to see. (John 9:11)
This man was blind from birth, so he originally had no eyes. Jesus made the eyes.
With the eyes, he came seeing Christ, the Messiah.
When Jesus said to him, “I am he,” he said, “Ah, I have met the Messiah.”
He saw the Messiah. However, the Pharisees who claimed to see did not see Jesus Christ.
It's still the same now. So the Lord Jesus Christ said, "
I came into this world to make those who do not see see and to judge you who say that you see. (John 9:39)
Chapter 9 of John tells us that Jesus Christ himself is the light and the eye.
The Book of Revelation says that the Holy Spirit is seven eyes sent to all the earth (Revelation 5:6).
In Ephesians 1, Paul says, ‘You have the Spirit of wisdom and revelation.’
In other words, we can only know God if we receive the spirit of wisdom and revelation (Ephesians 1:17).
Through the eyes, we will know what spiritual blessings God has given us,
we will know why Jesus Christ shed his blood, we will know the redemptive grace of his death
and being raised, and we will know what blessings he has given us and how he works.
And then we will know how he will lead us.
This is what the eyes is. The light and knowing are the eyes.
That is why the Epistle of the Hebrews says, ‘Faith is the substance of things hoped for’ (Hebrews 11:1),
that is, it is faith that makes the unseen real.
When we enter John 10, the attributes of Jesus Christ change again.
The Lord says I am the door for the sheep. (John 10:7)
Jesus Christ is the door through him to God the Father.
And then again, what Jesus Christ becomes is that he is a shepherd.
The shepherd speaks to us, and when the sheep of Jesus Christ hear that voice and follow Jesus Christ,
they go in and out and find pasture, and he gives us eternal life. (John 10:9,28)
It is said that he will be a protector that no one can pluck us out of his hand.
Up to this point, the Gospel of John continues to talk about the attributes of Christ.
So how great is it that Christ is in us?
So he does not say that he believes on Jesus, but that he “believes in his name” (John 1:12).
Although I list them like this, how can I express all the attributes of Christ?
It is difficult to express the name in words or writing.
I can't express it all.
I am roughly introducing it to you as it appears in the bible we have.
I can only hope that the Holy Spirit will reveal the attributes of Christ in us.
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth who makes the attributes of Christ real to us.
However, some people only have Jesus Christ as one grain.
There are many people who cannot make their own the amazing attributes contained in that one grain.
And the only thing they always say is, “I believe in Jesus.”
Some even say, “I have Christ as Lord.”
That's why they always say they have no worries.
They say that the Lord makes me prosper because I believe in him.
Because they only think that way, the gospel cannot serve as a mirror for change.
Even though we have only passed from John 1 to John 10,
how diverse and how extensive are the attributes of Jesus Christ?
“In the beginning was the Word (John 1:1)” means that he is present to us as Christ, and how diverse,
how extensive, and how rich his attributes are.
Therefore, since eternal life is not flat but cubic, changes are endless.
There is righteousness, holiness, glory, and love in it.
There is richness in it, power in it, and wisdom in it.
Many people say that they believe in Jesus and go to heaven.
Thinking like this means that even if they believe in Jesus, you only believe in the planes.
They can only see one side of Jesus and believe in him.
It is not about fully knowing and believing in the Lord.
However, some people are permeate with the attributes of Jesus Christ.
The evidence is shown in the body.
That is why, as the Lord said, those who believe in the Lord can do what the Lord did (John 14:12).
