Summary:
Paul explains that his life and ministry are driven by accountability before God and by the love of Christ. Because Christ died for all, all are considered to have died, and therefore those who now live must no longer live for themselves but for Christ, who died and was raised for them.
Teaching:
The power of godliness reveals itself over time through its fruit. We must not allow our hearts to be shaken by appearances.
Paul tells the Corinthian church, the holy people of God, that he hopes they will understand his words and accept them, and that they themselves will speak on his behalf to those who are trying to entice and mislead them.
Those who know Christ cannot help but feel the pressure toward obedience to the Word. They cannot avoid living for the Lord, and they cannot avoid dying for the Lord, because one man, Jesus, died for us all.
The resurrection of Jesus underscores the meaning and value of every person’s life, and it emphasizes that we now live for the One who died and was raised again.
