Summary:
Paul declares that believers are Christ’s ambassadors, through whom God Himself appeals to the world to be reconciled to Him. This reconciliation is grounded in the gospel exchange: God made Christ, who knew no sin, to be sin on our behalf, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.
Teaching:
God reconciles the world and people who are not reconciled to Him by bringing them into reconciliation with Himself through the message of reconciliation.
Reconciliation with God is possible only in Christ. Through Christ, God makes us reconciled to Himself, and the word of reconciliation is what makes this possible.
When we say that we become the righteousness of God, it means that God clothes us with His righteousness and declares us righteous. Through the death of Jesus - and through the message of reconciliation grounded in His death and resurrection - we are reconciled to God. Every servant of the church is called to win people through this message.
