Summary:
Paul teaches that giving follows a spiritual principle: those who sow sparingly reap sparingly, and those who sow generously reap generously. Each person should give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. God is able to supply all grace abundantly so that believers will have sufficiency in everything and overflow in good works. As God enriches them in every way, their generosity results in thanksgiving to God.
Teaching:
In verse 8, “grace” refers to the financial means that can be offered to God. God causes His grace to abound toward us so that we may live with sufficiency in our daily lives. He makes us sufficient in every respect so that we may abound in every good work.
One of the righteous deeds that pleases God is helping the poor, especially supporting pastors who are in need. God’s kingdom moves downward - it is directed toward the poor, the weak, and the marginalized. Therefore, we are called to serve them.
When we help the poor, thanksgiving is offered to God. As a result, God’s name is exalted. And when the poor experience love and return to God, the devil fiercely opposes it.
When we provide what people truly need, we gain people. To win people, one must have something to give. Scripture tells us that God supplies seed to the sower and bread for food to those who give to Him.
