이사야41장 말씀입니다.

1. 오 섬들아, 내 앞에서 잠잠하라. 백성들은 자기 힘을 회복하고 가까이 나아와 말할지니라. 우리가 함께 재판을

    받으러 가까이 나아가자.

Keep silence before me, O islands; and let the people renew [their] strength: let them come near; then let them speak: let us come near together to judgment.

2. 누가 동쪽으로부터 의로운 사람을 일으키고 그를 불러 자기 발 앞에 이르게 하였으며 그 앞에 민족들을 주어 그로 하여금 왕들을 다스리게 하였느냐? 그분께서 왕들을 먼지같이 그의 칼에, 쫓겨 가는 지푸라기같이 그의 활에 넘겨주시매

Who raised up the righteous [man] from the east, called him to his foot, gave the nations before him, and made [him] rule over kings? he gave [them] as the dust to his sword, [and] as driven stubble to his bow. 

3. 그가 그들의 뒤를 쫓아가되 심지어 자기 발로 가 보지 못한 길을 따라 안전하게 지나갔나니

He pursued them, [and] passed safely; [even] by the way [that] he had not gone with his feet. 

4. 그 일을 누가 이루고 행하였으며 처음부터 그 세대들을 불러내었느냐? 나 {주}가 마지막 세대와 함께 첫 번째 세대를

    불러내었나니 내가 곧 그니라.

Who hath wrought and done [it], calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and with the last; I [am] he.

5. 섬들이 그것을 보고 두려워하며 땅 끝들도 무서워하고 가까이 나오며 또 와서

The isles saw [it], and feared; the ends of the earth were afraid, drew near, and came.

6. 저마다 자기 이웃을 돕고 저마다 자기 형제에게 이르기를, 크게 용기를 내라, 하였도다.

They helped every one his neighbour; and [every one] said to his brother, Be of good courage. 

7. 이에 목수는 금세공업자의 용기를 북돋고 쇠망치로 다듬는 자는 모루를 치는 자의 용기를 북돋우며 이르되,

    그것을 땜질할 준비가 되었다, 하니 그가 못으로 그것을 단단히 박아 흔들리지 아니하게 하였도다.

So the carpenter encouraged the goldsmith, [and] he that smootheth [with] the hammer him that smote the anvil, saying, It [is] ready for the sodering: and he fastened it with nails, [that] it should not be moved. 

8. 그러나 나의 종 너 이스라엘아, 내가 택한 야곱아, 나의 친구 아브라함의 씨야,

But thou, Israel, [art] my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.

9. 내가 땅 끝들에서부터 너를 데려오고 땅의 우두머리들로부터 너를 불러 네게 이르기를, 너는 내 종이라. 내가 너를

    택하였으며 너를 버리지 아니하였다, 하였노라.

[Thou] whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the chief men thereof, and said unto thee, Thou [art] my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away.

10. 너는 두려워하지 말라. 내가 너와 함께하느니라. 놀라지 말라. 나는 네 [하나님]이니라. 내가 너를 강하게 하리라.

      참으로 내가 너를 도와주리라. 참으로 내가 내 의의 오른손으로 너를 떠받쳐 주리라.

Fear thou not; for I [am] with thee: be not dismayed; for I [am] thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

11. 보라, 네게 분노하던 모든 자들이 부끄러움을 당하고 당황하며 아무것도 아닌 것처럼 되고 너와 다투는 자들이

      멸망하리라.

Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish. 

12. 너와 다투던 자들을 네가 찾아도 찾지 못할 것이요, 너와 싸우는 자들은 아무것도 아닌 것 같고 보잘것없는 것같이

      되리니

Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, [even] them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought. 

13. 나 {주} 네 [하나님]이 네 오른손을 붙들고 네게 이르기를, 두려워하지 말라. 내가 너를 도우리라, 하리라.

For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.

14.너 벌레 야곱아, 너희 이스라엘 사람들아, 두려워하지 말라. 내가 너를 도우리라. {주} 네 구속자, 이스라엘의 거룩한

     이가 말하노라.

Fear not, thou worm Jacob, [and] ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel. 

15. 보라, 내가 너를 이가 달린 날카로운 새 타작 기구로 삼으리니 네가 산들을 쳐서 작게 부수며 작은 산들을 겨같이

      만들리라.

Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat [them] small, and shalt make the hills as chaff. 

16. 네가 그것들을 까부른즉 바람이 그것들을 가져가고 회오리바람이 그것들을 흩을 것이로되 너는 {주}를 기뻐하겠고

      이스라엘의 거룩한 이를 자랑하리라.

Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the LORD, [and] shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.

17. 가난하고 궁핍한 자들이 물을 구하되 물이 없어 그들의 혀가 갈증으로 인하여 힘을 잃을 때에 나 {주}가 그들의

      말을 듣고 나 이스라엘의 [하나님]이 그들을 버리지 아니하리라.

[When] the poor and needy seek water, and [there is] none, [and] their tongue faileth for thirst, I the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them.

18. 내가 높은 곳에 강을 내고 골짜기 한가운데 샘들을 내며 광야를 물 연못이 되게 하고 마른 땅을 물이 흐르는 샘이

      되게 하리라.

I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.

19. 내가 광야에는 백향목과 시타나무와 은매화와 기름나무를 심고 사막에는 전나무와 소나무와 회양나무를 함께

      두리니

I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the shittah tree, and the myrtle, and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the fir tree, [and] the pine, and the box tree together:

20. 그들이 {주}의 손이 이것을 이루고 이스라엘의 거룩한 이가 그것을 창조한 것을 보고 알며 깊이 생각하고 함께

      깨달으리라.

That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the LORD hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.

21. {주}가 말하노라. 너희는 소송을 제기하라. 야곱의 [왕]이 말하노라. 너희는 강력한 이유들을 제시하라.

Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong [reasons], saith the King of Jacob. 

22. 그들은 그것들을 가져오고 앞으로 일어날 일을 보이며 또 이전 일들이 어떠했는지도 보일지니라. 그리하면 우리가

      그것들을 깊이 생각하고 그것들의 결말을 알리라. 또는 앞으로 있을 일들을 우리에게 밝히 보이며

Let them bring [them] forth, and shew us what shall happen: let them shew the former things, what they [be], that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come. 

23. 이 후에 일어날 일들을 보여 주어 너희가 신들인 줄 우리가 알게 하라. 참으로 선을 행하든지 악을 행하든지 하라.

      그리하면 우리가 놀라서 그것을 함께 바라보리라.

Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye [are] gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold [it] together.

24. 보라, 너희는 아무것도 아니고 너희 일은 헛것이며 너희를 택하는 자는 가증한 자니라.

Behold, ye [are] of nothing, and your work of nought: an abomination [is he that] chooseth you. 

25. 내가 북쪽으로부터 한 사람을 일으켰은즉 그가 오리라. 그가 해 뜨는 곳에서부터 내 이름을 부르며 회반죽 위에

      임하듯, 토기장이가 진흙을 밟는 것 같이 통치자들 위에 임하리라.

I have raised up [one] from the north, and he shall come: from the rising of the sun shall he call upon my name: and he shall come upon princes as [upon] morter, and as the potter treadeth clay.

26. 누가 처음부터 밝히 보여 우리가 알게 하였느냐? 또 이전부터 밝히 보여 우리가, 그분은 의로우시도다, 하게

      하였느냐? 참으로 보여 주는 자도 없고 참으로 밝히 알려 주는 자도 없으며 참으로 너희 말들을 듣는 자도 없도다.

Who hath declared from the beginning, that we may know? and beforetime, that we may say, [He is] righteous? yea, [there is] none that sheweth, yea, [there is] none that declareth, yea, [there is] none that heareth your words.

27.처음이신 이가 시온에게 이르기를, 보라, 그들을 보라, 하리라. 내가 좋은 소식을 가져오는 자를 예루살렘에 주리라.

The first [shall say] to Zion, Behold, behold them: and I will give to Jerusalem one that bringeth good tidings.

28. 내가 보니 한 사람도 없었으며 내가 물을 때에 그들 가운데 한 마디라도 대답할 조언자가 하나도 없었도다.

For I beheld, and [there was] no man; even among them, and [there was] no counsellor, that, when I asked of them, could answer a word. 

29. 보라, 그들은 다 헛것이며 그들의 일은 아무것도 아니니 그들이 부어 만든 우상들은 바람이요, 혼동일 뿐이니라.

Behold, they [are] all vanity; their works [are] nothing: their molten images [are] wind and confusion.
