Bible Reading - 1Thessalonians 4:1~9

4:1 Finally, brothers, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living.

마지막으로 형제들아, 우리는 사실 너희가 살아가고 있는 것처럼 너희가 어떻게 하나님을 기쁘시게 하며 살지를 가르쳤다.

Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more.

지금 나는 너희에게 주 안에서 이것을 더욱더 하도록 묻고 촉구한다. 

4:2 For you know what instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.

너희는 우리가 주 예수의 권세로 너희에게 주었던 어떤 지침을 안다.

4:3 It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality;

그것은 하나님의 뜻으로 너희가 성별되어져야만 하고, 성적인 부도덕을 피해야만 하며 

4:4 that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable,

너희 각자가 거룩하고 존중할 수 있는 방식으로 자신의 몸을 다스리기를 배워야만 하며 

4:5 not in passionate lust like the heathen(이교도), who do not know God;

하나님을 모르는 이교도들처럼 격렬한 정욕에 빠지지 않도록

4:6 and that in this matter no one should wrong his brother or take advantage of him.

그리고 이 문제에 있어서 어느 누구도 형제를 해치거나 그를 이용해서는 안 된다.

The Lord will punish men for all such sins, as we have already told you and warned you.

우리가 이미 말하고 경고했던 것처럼 주님께서는 그러한 죄들에 대하여 사람들을 처벌하실 것이다. 

4:7 For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.

하나님은 우리를 부정하게 하려고 부르시지 않고 거룩한 삶을 살도록 부르셨다.

4:8 Therefore, he who rejects this instruction does not reject man but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit.

그러므로 이 지침을 거절하는 자는 사람을 거절한 것이 아니라 그의 성령을 주시는 하나님을 거절하는 것이다.

4:9 Now about brotherly love we do not need to write to you,

이제 형제를 사랑하는 것에 대해 우리는 너희에게 쓸 필요가 없다.

for you yourselves have been taught by God to love each other.

너희 자신들이 서로 사랑하도록 하나님에 의하여 가르침을 받았기 때문이다.
