  ■ 개요

캐럴의 하나. 감리교회의 창시자 존 웨슬리의 동생 찰스 웨슬리가 작사하고 펠릭스 멘델스존이 작곡하였다.
 제목의 의미를 직역하면, '들으라! 전령 천사들이 노래하네' 정도가 된다. 노래 가사 또한 천사들이 아기 예수가 새로운 왕으로서 태어났음을 선언하고 있다.

외국에서는 머라이어 캐리 등 수많은 가수들이 편곡하여 불렀으며, 아카펠라로도 많이 소화할 만큼 제법 유명하다.
 국내에서는 <천사 찬송하기를>, <천사의 찬송> 이라는 이름으로 번안되어 사용되고 있다.
