137과

When I am healed, I am not healed alone.

나는 치유될 때 홀로 치유되지 않는다.

1 Today's idea remains the central thought on which salvation rests. For healing is the opposite of all the world's ideas which dwell on sickness and on separate states. Sickness is a retreat from others and a shutting off of joining. It becomes a door that closes on a separate self and keeps it isolated and alone.

1. 오늘의 아이디어는 구원이 근거하는 중심 생각이다. 세상의 그 모든 아이디어는 병과 분리 상태에 머무는데, 치유는 그 아이디어들과 정반대기 때문이다. 병이란 다른 이에게서 물러나고 결합을 차단하는 것이다. 그리하여 병은 분리된 자아를 가둬서 고립시키고 홀로 있게 만드는 문이 된다.

2 Sickness is isolation. For it seems to keep one self apart from all the rest to suffer what the others do not feel. It gives the body final power to make the separation real and keep the mind in solitary prison, split apart and held in pieces by a solid wall of sickened flesh which it can not surmount. The world obeys the laws that sickness serves, but healing operates apart from them.

2. 병은 고립이다. 병은 한 자아를 나머지 자아들과 분리하여 다른 자아들은 느끼지 못하는 고통을 겪게 하는 듯이 보이기 때문이다. 병은 분리를 실재화하고 마음을 독방에 가둘 최후의 힘을 몸에 부여한다. 마음은 산산이 부서진 조각들이 되어, 스스로 극복할 수 없는 병든 살로 된 단단한 벽에 하나씩 갇힌다. 세상은 병이 섬기는 법칙을 따르지만, 치유는 그것과 별개로 작동한다.

3 It is impossible that anyone be healed alone. In sickness must he be apart and separate. But healing is his own decision to be one again and to accept his Self with all its parts intact and unassailed. In sickness does his Self appear to be dismembered and without the unity that gives it life. But healing is accomplished as he sees the body has no power to attack the universal oneness of God's Son.

3. 그 누구도 홀로 치유되는 것은 불가능하다. 병들었을 때, 그는 분명 떨어지고 분리되어 있다. 그러나 치유는 그가 다시 하나가 되겠다는, 그리고 자신의 자아를 어떤 부분도 손상되거나 공격받지 않은 상태로 받아들이겠다는 결정이다. 병들었을 때, 그의 자아는 해체되어 자신에게 생명을 부여하는 단일성이 없어 보인다. 하지만 몸은 하느님 아들의 보편적인 하나인 상태를 공격할 힘이 없다. 그가 이것을 깨달을 때 치유가 이루어진다.

4 Sickness would prove that lies must be the truth. But healing demonstrates that truth is true. The separation sickness would impose has never really happened. To be healed is merely to accept what always was the simple truth and always will remain exactly as it has forever been. Yet eyes accustomed to illusions must be shown that what they look upon is false. So healing, never needed by the truth, must demonstrate that sickness is not real.

4. 병은 거짓이 진리라고 증명하려 한다. 그러나 치유는 진리가 참임을 입증한다. 병이 부과하려는 분리는 결코 일어난 적이 없다. 치유된다는 것은 단지, 언제나 단순한 진리였고 이제껏 쭉 그래 왔던 대로 영원히 남아있을 것을 받아들이는 것이다. 하지만 환상에 익숙해진 눈은 자신이 보는 것이 거짓임을 보여주는 증거가 필요하다. 따라서 치유는 병이 실제가 아님을 입증해야 한다. 진리는 결코 치유가 필요 없지만 말이다.

5 Healing might thus be called a counter-dream which cancels out the dream of sickness in the name of truth but not in truth itself. Just as forgiveness overlooks all sins that never were accomplished, healing but removes illusions that have not occurred. Just as the real world will arise to take the place of what has never been at all, healing offers restitution for imagined states and false ideas which dreams embroider into pictures of the truth.

5. 따라서 치유는, 진리 그 자체로가 아닌 진리의 이름으로 병의 꿈을 상쇄하는, 역몽逆夢이라고 불릴 수 있을 것이다. 용서가 결코 행해지지 않은 모든 죄를 간과하듯, 치유는 단지 일어나지 않은 환상들을 제거한다. 실재세상이 일어나 전혀 존재하지 않았던 것을 대체하듯, 치유는 진리의 그림들 속에 꿈이 수놓는 가공의 상태와 거짓 아이디어들을 원상태로 돌려놓는다.

6 Yet think not healing is unworthy of your function here. For anti-Christ becomes more powerful than Christ to those who dream the world is real. The body seems to be more solid and more stable than the mind. And love becomes a dream, while fear remains the one reality that can be seen and justified and fully understood.

6. 하지만 치유가 이곳에서 네가 맡은 기능에 걸맞지 않다고 생각하지는 말라. 세상이 실제라고 꿈꾸는 자들에게, 적그리스도anti-Christ는 그리스도보다 더 강하기 때문이다. 몸이 마음보다 더 단단하고 안정적으로 보인다. 사랑은 꿈이 되는 반면, 두려움은 보고 정당화하고 충분히 이해할 수 있는 유일한 실재로 남는다.

7 Just as forgiveness shines away all sin and the real world will occupy the place of what you made, so healing must replace the fantasies of sickness which you hold before the simple truth. When sickness has been seen to disappear in spite of all the laws that hold it cannot but be real, then questions have been answered. And the laws can be no longer cherished nor obeyed.

7. 용서가 모든 죄를 밝혀 물리치고 실재세상이 네가 만든 것의 자리를 차지할 것이듯, 치유는 분명 네가 단순한 진리 앞에 내건 병의 판타지를 대체할 것이다. 병의 실재성을 떠받치는 모든 법칙에도 불구하고 병이 사라지는 것을 보았을 때, 질문에 대한 답이 이미 주어진 것이다. 따라서 그 법칙들을 더 이상 소중히 여기거나 따를 수 없다.

8 Healing is freedom. For it demonstrates that dreams will not prevail against the truth. Healing is shared. And by this attribute, it proves that laws unlike the ones which hold that sickness is inevitable are more potent than their sickly opposites. Healing is strength. For by its gentle hand is weakness overcome. And minds which were walled off within a body free to join with other minds, to be forever strong.

8. 치유는 자유다. 치유는 꿈이 진리를 이길 수 없음을 입증하기 때문이다. 치유는 공유된다. 바로 이 속성으로 인해, 치유는 병이 불가피하다고 주장하는 법칙과는 다른 법칙이 그 반대인 병적인 법칙보다 더 강력함을 증명한다. 치유는 강함이다. 치유의 온유한 손에 의해 약함이 극복되기 때문이다. 이제 몸 하나씩에 따로 갇혀있던 마음들은 다른 마음들과 자유로이 결합하여 영원히 강하게 존재할 것이다.

9 Healing, forgiveness, and the glad exchange of all the world of sorrow for a world where sadness cannot enter, are the means by which the Holy Spirit urges you to follow Him. His gentle lessons teach how easily salvation can be yours, how little practice you need undertake to let His laws replace the ones you made to hold yourself a prisoner to death.

9. 치유, 용서, 슬픔에 빠진 온 세상을 슬픔이 들어갈 수 없는 곳으로 기쁘게 교환하는 것, 성령은 이러한 수단을 사용하여 너에게 자신을 따르라고 촉구한다. 성령의 온유한 레슨은 구원이 얼마나 쉽게 너의 것이 될 수 있는지, 너 자신을 죽음의 포로로 가두려고 만든 법칙을 성령의 법칙이 대체하게 하는 데 얼마나 적은 연습이 필요한지 가르친다.

10 His life becomes your own as you extend the little help He asks in freeing you from everything that ever caused you pain. And as you let yourself be healed, you see all those around you or who cross your mind or whom you touch or those who seem to have no contact with you healed along with you. Perhaps you will not recognize them all, nor realize how great your offering to all the world when you let healing come to you. But you are never healed alone. And legions upon legions will receive the gift which you receive when you are healed.

10. 성령이 너를 모든 고통의 원인에서 해방하기 위해 요청하는 작은 도움을 네가 확장할 때, 성령의 생명은 너 자신의 생명이 된다. 그리고 너 자신이 치유되도록 허용할 때, 네 주위에 있는 자들이나 마음에 떠오르는 자들, 혹은 네가 만나는 자들이나 너와 아무런 접촉도 없어 보이는 자들이 너와 더불어 치유되는 것을 본다. 어쩌면 너는 그들 모두를 알아보지는 못할 것이며, 치유가 네게 오도록 허용할 때 네가 온 세상에 얼마나 많은 것을 주는지 깨닫지도 못할 것이다. 그러나 너는 결코 홀로 치유되지 않는다. 네가 치유될 때 받는 선물을 수많은 이들이 받을 것이다.

11 Those who are healed become the instruments of healing. Nor does time elapse between the instant they are healed and all the grace of healing it is given them to give. What is opposed to God does not exist. And who accepts it not within his mind becomes a haven where the weary can remain to rest. For here is truth bestowed, and here are all illusions brought to truth.

11. 치유된 자들은 치유의 도구가 된다. 치유되는 순간 그들에게는 다른 이들에게 나누어줄 그 모든 치유의 은혜가 주어진다. 하느님께 반대되는 것은 존재하지 않는다. 그것을 자신의 마음에 받아들이지 않는 자는 지친 자들이 머물러 안식할 수 있는 피난처가 된다. 바로 여기에서 진리가 주어지고, 바로 여기에서 모든 환상이 진리로 가져와지기 때문이다.

12 Would you not offer shelter to God's Will? You but invite your Self to be at home, and can this invitation be refused? Ask the inevitable to occur, and you will never fail. The other choice is but to ask what cannot be to be, and this cannot succeed. Today we ask that only truth will occupy our minds, that thoughts of healing will this day go forth from what is healed to what must yet be healed, aware that they will both occur as one.

12. 하느님의 뜻에게 피난처를 제공하지 않으려는가? 너는 다만 너의 자아에게 집에 있으라고 초대할 뿐이거늘, 이러한 초대가 거절될 수 있겠는가? 일어날 수밖에 없는 것에게 일어나 달라고 요청하라. 그러면 너는 결코 실패하지 않을 것이다. 다른 선택이란 단지 존재할 수 없는 것에게 존재해 달라고 요청하는 것이며, 이것은 성공할 수 없다. 오늘 우리는 오로지 진리만이 우리의 마음을 차지하고, 치유의 생각들이 치유된 것으로부터 아직 치유될 필요가 있는 것으로 나아갈 것을 요청하면서, 이 둘이 하나로서 일어날 것임을 알아차린다.

13 We will remember, as the hour strikes, our function is to let our minds be healed that we may carry healing to the world, exchanging curse for blessing, pain for joy, and separation for the peace of God. Is not a minute of the hour worth the giving to receive a gift like this? Is not a little time a small expense to offer for the gift of everything?

13. 매시 정각이 되면, 우리의 마음이 치유되도록 허용함으로써 세상에 치유를 전하는 것이 우리의 기능임을 기억할 것이다. 그리하여 우리는 저주를 축복으로, 고통을 기쁨으로, 분리를 하느님의 평화로 맞바꾸게 된다. 이와 같은 선물을 받기 위해 매시간 1분을 드릴 가치가 있지 않겠는가? 이렇게 짧은 시간은 모든 것이라는 선물에 대한 대가로 드리기에는 너무 적은 비용이 아닌가?

14 Yet must we be prepared for such a gift. And so we will begin the day with this and give ten minutes to these thoughts with which we will conclude today at night as well:

14. 하지만 이러한 선물을 받으려면 준비가 되어있어야 한다. 따라서 우리는 다음의 생각과 함께 10분을 보내며 하루를 시작하고, 밤에 하루를 마칠 때도 똑같이 할 것이다:

15 When I am healed, I am not healed alone.

And I would share my healing with the world,

That sickness may be banished from the mind

Of God's one Son, Who is my only Self.

15. 나는 치유될 때 홀로 치유되지 않는다.

나는 나의 치유를 세상과 공유하여,

하느님의 유일한 아들의 마음에서 병이 사라지게 하겠다

그는 나의 유일한 자아다.

16 Let healing be through you this very day. And as you rest in quiet, be prepared to give as you receive, to hold but what you give, and to receive the Word of God to take the place of all the foolish thoughts that ever were imagined. Now we come together to make well all that was sick and offer blessing where there was attack. Nor will we let this function be forgot as every hour of the day slips by, remembering our function with this thought:

16. 바로 오늘, 너를 통해 치유가 일어나게 하라. 조용히 안식하면서 네가 받는 대로 주고, 네가 주는 것만을 간직하며, 이제껏 상상한 온갖 어리석은 생각을 대체할 하느님의 말씀을 받을 준비를 하라. 이제 우리는 병들었던 모든 것을 낫게 하고 공격이 있던 곳에 축복을 베풀려고 함께 모인다. 오늘 우리는 매시간이 지나갈 때마다 이 기능을 잊지 않도록 유념하고, 다음의 생각으로 우리의 기능을 기억할 것이다:

17 When I am healed, I am not healed alone.

And I would bless my brothers, for I would

Be healed with them as they are healed with me.

17. 나는 치유될 때 홀로 치유되지 않는다.

나는 나의 형제들을 축복하고자 한다.

그들이 나와 더불어 치유될 때,

나도 그들과 더불어 치유되고자 하기 때문이다.
