Diamond in the rough : Someone who is basically good hearted but lacking social graces and respect for the law.

(아직 연마되지 않거나 손을 가하지 않아 감추어져 있는 뛰어난 가능성을 가진 사람이나 물건. 즉 진흙속의 진주라는 뜻)

A : I've heard that Mrs Lee has an enormous capacity for hard work.

    (Mrs Lee는 힘든 일을 해내는 능력이 대단하다고 들었는데.)

B : Yeah, She's a fine personal and a real diamond in the rough.

    (그래. 성격도 좋은데다가 진흙속의 진주라구.)
