Title: Some import!ant characteristics of a co-worker
The majority of people work with co-workers who have many different tastes, preferences, and personalities. Differences among fellow workers may lead to some troubles and conflicts. That’s why some good characteristics are needed, which enable us to overcome some difficulties and achieve the goals set by an organization. Then what qualities should a good coworker have? Who are good colleagues? I think the following qualities are most import!ant: communicative competence, responsibility, and generosity,.
First of all, good co-workers are usually good at conversing with other people around them. Communication is vital to helping each other. It often leads to good relations between people. Good relations make it easier for an organization to reach its goals in a more effective fashion. Also enough and effective conversation can prevent people from misunderstanding or being misunderstood, which often contributes to conflicts and disbeliefs among fellow workers. A good co-worker opens his or her mind to colleagues first and is willing to approach their fellow workers to have conversations. He or she is also usually a good listener, and always try to maintain a rapport between co-workers.
Next, good co-workers always do their best to carry out their duty. They rarely hand over their own responsibilities to other people around them. Suppose someone would shirk his or her duties and then other workers would be forced to take the work off his or her hands. What would happen? The relations and reliability among fellow workers would be impaired, often ending up with failure, complaints, and conflicts. In Korea, which has been affected by seniority and hierarchy for a long time, older workers tend to loaf on the job while younger workers take the job instead. Once a co-worker undertakes a job, he or she should make every effort to get it done, because it is their responsibility. It is essential for a co-worker to be responsible and fulfill his or her own responsibility. Being responsible as a co-worker can bring peace to all workers.
Being generous to other fellow workers is another import!ant quality of a good co-worker. No one is perfect. Everyone has both strengths and weakness and anyone may make a mistake. Suppose whenever someone makes a slip, he or she would be reprimanded and not be given another chance. He or she would be discouraged or disgruntled. Therefore a good co-worker needs to be broad-minded with fellow workers.
In conclusion, a good co-worker should have three import!ant qualities: communicative competence, responsibility and generosity. A good co-worker is good at communicating with fellow workers, responsible for his or her own duty, does his or her best to fulfill it for himself or herself, and generous to colleagues.
