 로빈 소더링(25위.스웨덴)이 프랑스오픈 테니스대회 남자단식 결승에 먼저 올랐다.

   소더링은 5일(이하 한국시간) 프랑스 파리에서 열린 대회 13일째 남자단식 4강전에서 페르난도 곤살레스(12위.칠레)와 3시간 28분의 혈투 끝에 3-2(6-3 7-5 5-7 4-6 6-4)로 이겼다.

   이 대회 전까지 메이저대회 최고 성적이 3회전 진출에 불과했던 소더링은 16강에서 이 대회 5년 연속 우승에 도전했던 라파엘 나달(1위.스페인)을 꺾은 여세를 몰아 결승까지 진출했다.

   극적인 승부였다. 먼저 두 세트를 내준 곤살레스가 3,4세트를 내리 따내 승부를 원점으로 돌린 뒤 마지막 5세트에서 게임스코어 4-1까지 앞설 때만 해도 곤살레스의 결승 진출이 유력해보였다.

   그러나 16강에서 나달을 잡은 소더링의 저력이 만만치 않았다.

   소더링은 자신의 서브 게임을 잘 지켜 2-4로 추격한 뒤 곤살레스의 서브 게임을 브레이크하며 3-4로 바짝 따라붙었다.

   대역전 드라마를 다 쓴 듯 승리의 기쁨에 일찍 젖었던 곤살레스는 4-4 동점에서 맞이한 자신의 서브 게임을 듀스 끝에 내주며 결국 재역전패를 당한 셈이 됐다.

   소더링은 로저 페더러(2위.스위스)와 후안 마틴 델 포트로(5위.아르헨티나)의 승자와 우승을 놓고 7일 밤 10시에 맞붙는다.

   5세트 초반까지 유리한 흐름으로 가져갔던 곤살레스는 2007년 호주오픈 준우승에 이어 개인 두 번째 메이저대회 결승 진출을 노렸지만 4-1에서 내리 다섯 게임을 내주는 난조 속에 4강 진출에 만족해야 했다.
