Dr. House Brings the House Down at Third Prayer Dinner
Robert Abendroth
Last Tuesday,
May 14th, Las Vegas held another powerful, spirited, Prayer Dinner
at IPEC moving towards the June 22nd Rally. Dr. Mary House, the First
Lady of Mountaintop Faith Ministries was the guest speaker. With around 150 participants,
there were many new guests present from different churches in the Las Vegas area
as well as friends of members.
During the
meal, the emcee, First Lady Fay McDonald of The Wealthy Place church, gave an
introduction about who Mother Moon is and what she has accomplished in her
life. Following her introduction, Dr. Rouse, co-chair of ACLC, gave a few open
remarks. He testified to the wisdom of Rev. Sun Myung Moon, including the
wisdom he had to marry Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon. Dr. Rouse, then introduced the husband
of Dr. House, Bishop Clinton House. Bishop House introduced his wife describing
her personality and praising her powerful spirit. Before, her speech, the Mountaintop
choir performed two absolutely amazing songs of praise which set the tone for
Dr. House’s speech.
As her
husband put it, Dr. House is “an all-around dynamic young lady in a small
package” and there isn’t a better way to describe her. She began with a beautiful
song of hope whose lyrics say “I’ll never forsake you.” She began with thanks
for the opportunity to speak at the Prayer Dinner and also thanks to her husband
of 39 years for allowing her to do the work that God has called her to do.
The topic of
her speech was family values and she testified to the power of the prayers of
her mother. He mother prayed for her, her six siblings, and her alcoholic father.
She said that to this day, she is living off of the prayers of her mother. She
shared how her mother’s commitment and prayers for her father eventually
allowed him to be saved. She shared a few bible passages about faith and would follow with her own experiences of faith. She shared how God worked in her and her
husband’s ministry. She energetically emphasized that God will do so much more
than we imagine when we have faith. In her closing statements she said “when we
believe God, no matter what it looks like, He always answers.”
Inspired by
her moving testimony, and by the power of prayer and faith, audience members
responded with shouts of “amen!” and “hallelujah!”
To conclude the
night, there was an auction of beautiful paintings by renowned artist Emmy Lu.
He has painted for many well-known people including the Obamas. Three of his
paintings were sold that night. All proceeds from the auction were donated for
the upcoming June 22nd Peace Rally.
The evening
ended with Rev. Jackson’s deeply powerful prayer for the healing of Las Vegas
and America.
