이사야21장 말씀입니다.

1. 바닷가 사막에 대한 엄중한 부담이라. 남쪽의 회오리바람이 지나가는 것 같이 사막으로부터 두려운 땅으로부터

    그것이 임하는도다.

The burden of the desert of the sea. As whirlwinds in the south pass through; [so] it cometh from the desert, from a terrible land.

2. 혹독한 환상 계시가 내게 밝히 드러났나니 이르시되, 배신하는 자가 배신하고 노략하는 자가 노략하는도다.

    오 엘람이여, 올라갈지어다. 오 메대여, 에워쌀지어다. 그곳의 한숨을 내가 다 그치게 하였노라, 하시는도다.

A grievous vision is declared unto me; the treacherous dealer dealeth treacherously, and the spoiler spoileth. Go up, O Elam: besiege, O Media; all the sighing thereof have I made to cease. 

3. 그러므로 내 허리에 통증이 가득하였으며 해산하는 여인의 고통 같은 고통이 나를 사로잡았도다. 그것을 들을 때에

     내가 몸을 굽혔으며 그것을 볼 때에 내가 놀랐도다.

Therefore are my loins filled with pain: pangs have taken hold upon me, as the pangs of a woman that travaileth: I was bowed down at the hearing [of it]; I was dismayed at the seeing [of it].

4. 내 마음이 헐떡거리고 두려움이 나를 무섭게 하며 나의 기쁨의 밤을 그분께서 내게 두려움으로 바꾸셨도다.

My heart panted, fearfulness affrighted me: the night of my pleasure hath he turned into fear unto me. 

5. 상을 예비하고 파수대에서 파수를 보며 먹고 마실지어다. 통치자들아, 너희는 일어나 방패에 기름을 바를지어다.

Prepare the table, watch in the watchtower, eat, drink: arise, ye princes, [and] anoint the shield.

6.[주]께서 내게 이같이 이르되, 가서 파수꾼을 세우고 그로 하여금 자기가 보는 것을 밝히 알리게 할지어다, 하셨도다.

For thus hath the Lord said unto me, Go, set a watchman, let him declare what he seeth.

7. 그가 두 명의 마병이 탄 병거와 나귀 병거와 낙타 병거를 보고 많은 주의를 기울여 부지런히 귀를 기울이다가

And he saw a chariot [with] a couple of horsemen, a chariot of asses, [and] a chariot of camels; and he hearkened diligently with much heed:

8. 외치기를, 사자다, 하고, 내 주인이여, 내가 낮에 계속해서 파수대에 서 있었으며 밤새도록 파수하는 곳에 있었는데

And he cried, A lion: My lord, I stand continually upon the watchtower in the daytime, and I am set in my ward whole nights: 

9. 보소서, 사람들의 병거가 두 명의 마병과 함께 여기로 오나이다, 하매 그가 응답하여 이르되, 바빌론이 무너졌도다,

    무너졌도다. 그녀의 신들을 새긴 형상들을 그분께서 다 부수어 땅에 던지셨도다, 하더라.

And, behold, here cometh a chariot of men, [with] a couple of horsemen. And he answered and said, Babylon is fallen, is fallen; and all the graven images of her gods he hath broken unto the ground.

10. 오 내가 타작한 것이여, 내 타작마당의 곡식이여, 내가 만군의 {주} 곧 이스라엘의 [하나님]께 들은 것을 너희에게

      밝히 알렸노라.

O my threshing, and the corn of my floor: that which I have heard of the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, have I declared unto you. 

11. 두마에 대한 엄중한 부담이라. 그가 세일에서 나를 불러 이르되, 파수꾼이여, 밤이 어떻게 되었느냐? 파수꾼이여,

      밤이 어떻게 되었느냐? 하매

The burden of Dumah. He calleth to me out of Seir, Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night?

12. 파수꾼이 이르되, 아침이 오나니 또 밤도 오리라. 너희가 물으려거든 물을지어다. 돌이키고 돌아올지니라, 하더라.

The watchman said, The morning cometh, and also the night: if ye will enquire, enquire ye: return, come.

13. 아라비아 위에 놓인 엄중한 부담이라. 오 여행하는 드단 족속의 무리들이여, 너희가 아라비아의 숲에서 묵으리라.

The burden upon Arabia. In the forest in Arabia shall ye lodge, O ye travelling companies of Dedanim.

14. 데마 땅의 거주민들이 목마른 자에게 물을 가져다주고 도망한 자를 위해 자기들의 빵을 예비하였도다.

The inhabitants of the land of Tema brought water to him that was thirsty, they prevented with their bread him that fled. 

15. 그들은 칼을 피해 도망하고 뺀 칼과 당긴 활과 전쟁의 혹독함을 피해 도망하였느니라.

For they fled from the swords, from the drawn sword, and from the bent bow, and from the grievousness of war. 

16. [주]께서 내게 이같이 이르시되, 품꾼의 햇수에 따라 일 년 내에 게달의 모든 영광이 사라질 것이요,

For thus hath the Lord said unto me, Within a year, according to the years of an hireling, and all the glory of Kedar shall fail:

17. 게달 자손의 용사들 곧 활 쏘는 자들의 남은 수가 줄어들리라. {주} 이스라엘의 [하나님]이 그것을 말하였느니라,

      하셨느니라.

And the residue of the number of archers, the mighty men of the children of Kedar, shall be diminished: for the LORD God of Israel hath spoken [it].
