Van Der Sar (7) Reassuring presence in goal. Overwhelming possession against Boro but he was there to keep his clean sheet whenever they threatened. Rafael (6) Capable. Not his most impressive game but he did his job well. Always bright and lively when pushing forward. Evans (7) Outclassed the opposition attackers. Good positioning and reading of the game. Tackled well and won his aerial battles. Vidic (7) Juggernaut. Stronger and faster to the ball than their forwards when it came near our box. Rarely gave them any opportunites cheaply. O'Shea (7) Very good. Hardly put a foot wrong in defence. Proved his usefulness at both ends of the pitch. Park (7) Three Lung Park. Tormented the opposition on both wings and always found space for himself. Must practice his finishing because it let him down big time. Fletcher (6) Fantastic Engine. Cleaned up Possession repeatedly. Kept the passes flowing but couldnt assert his authority on the game. Carrick (7) Ran the show. Involved in most of our best moves. Great vision and awareness of his team mates. Defensively sound as well. Ronaldo (6) Frustrating. A wasteful day in front of goal. However he always carried a goal threat and grew in influence as the game went on. Rooney (7) MOTM Always dangerous. Only player who seriously tested their keeper. Linked Midfield and Attack with his energy. Strength in abundance and the willpower to make things happen. Inspirational. Berbatov (6) Matchwinner. Started slowly but gradually exerted himself. Nice link up play and movement in the final third. Subs Neville (6) Heroic introduction by our captain. Epitomised the desire and hunger to win of a true champion. Scholes (6) Changed the game. Added more creativity to our midfield and always had an eye for a pass. Giggs (N/A) Steadied the ship. Late cameo gave him enough time to use his experience to see out the game. Overall (7) The result is what matters. We can play to a reasonably good standard but are not putting teams to the sword when we are on top. Its a concern that our finishing is piss poor at the moment though.

Fletcher - 5 - Sub par for a second time in a row. Carrick - 6 - Got better as the game went on. Ronaldo - 5 - An other frustrating game from him. Rooney - 5 - See Ronaldo. Passing let him down. Berbatov - 7 - Scored. Some neat passes. Subs : Neville - 6 - Composed. Great cross for that horrible Park miss. Scholes - 8 - Changed the game. Giggs - 6 -

Name Changed weso26   Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: Dublin Posts: 6,080	Van Der Sar - 7 - solid. Rafael - 5 - really struggled and was poor on the ball. Vidic - 8 - Fantastic but some of his passing was wayward. Evans - 7 - looked much more in control than against Stoke. O'Shea - 6 - solid but lacking in passing and crossing ability. Park - 8 - should have scored a couple but his overall play was very good. Carrick - 7 - kept the game ticking. Fletcher - 6 - poor game by his new high standards! Ronaldo - 6 - got the chances and fluffed most. Berbatov - 8 - scored and put a great ball in for Rooney. A lot of room for improvement though which can only be a good thing. Rooney - 8 - Very good. Was a constant threat and he was all over the place. Subs: Scholes - 7 - controlled the match after coming on. Neville - 6 - better than Rafael. Giggs - 4 - token rating. Barely on the pitch.

Not as bad as Ronaldo's. Park's movement was great - first half he took up great positions but wasn't given the ball. His crosses caused problems. A bit of energy and urgency was what we needed and he had it.
