Summary:
After hearing the message of truth - the good news of salvation - and believing in Christ, believers are marked as belonging to Him through the Holy Spirit. This Spirit acts like a seal, showing that they are God’s own people. The Spirit is also described as a pledge or down payment, guaranteeing the full inheritance God has promised. All of this unfolds so that God’s glory may be praised through the lives of those who belong to Him.
Teaching:
A person who is in Christ bows before Him and listens to His word of truth—the message that brings our salvation.
Truth not only brings everything into existence but also has the power to set us free from everything. It is not merely a matter of knowledge that informs the mind, but a power that enables understanding and grants the authority to live in what is known.
Only God’s Word is true. When we listen to God’s Word, salvation comes.
Being sealed by the Holy Spirit means this: when I hear the Word, believe it, and let my will be ignited to accept God’s purpose, decision, plan, and design—and to live according to it—the Holy Spirit responds, ‘Let us work together.’
The Word becomes the believer’s inheritance. This inheritance is like an investment that produces work and brings profit. The Word God gives us benefits our lives. We receive the Word as the greatest treasure of our lives. When we take God’s promises as our life’s inheritance, the Holy Spirit becomes the guarantee of that inheritance. And just as verse 12 says, He redeems us and leads us to praise His glory.
