Revelation 2:18~29 - To the Church in Thyatira, adhered to the truth, but where false prophetess was active

Revelation 2:20 – (3) You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess

☞ Revelation 2:20 - Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols.(NIV); Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.(KJV); "But I have this complaint against you. You are permitting that woman - that Jezebel who calls herself a prophet - to lead my servants astray. She teaches them to commit sexual sin and to eat food offered to idols.(NLT)

○ The Dark Period of LORD God and the Dark Age of Religion or Church

1) LORD God wanted the Israelites to be clean as the pure lineage. However, Israel ignored this and made a political marriage between King Ahab and Jezebel who was a priestess serving the goddess Asherah. As a result, temples of Baal and Asherah were built in Samaria, and shrines and altars for Baal and Asherah were built in all over the country, and all Israelites worshipped them. The pole in “Ahab also made an Asherah pole” in 1 Kings 16:33 was that a phallus was made for the goddess. Furthermore, Ahab and Jezebel brought hundreds of prophets of Baal and Asherah from Sidon and revived them, while killing all the prophets of LORD God. In this way, Ahab was urged on by Jezebel (1 Kings 21:25), and Ahab did more to arouse the anger of the LORD God than did all the kings of Israel (1 Kings 16:30, 16:33).

2) In conclusion, this was the dark period of LORD God in the history of Israel, and Jezebel was at the center of it. This was also ‘the Dark Age of the Religion or Church’, the Middle Age from AD 538 to 1,517, the historical background of Christianity, and it was in the same context as Roman Catholic at the center. Roman Catholic leaders used the tremendous power during the Middle Age to impose various idolatries and false doctrines on its members.
