Summary:
The passage tells believers to take up the full armor God provides so that they will be able to resist in the evil day and remain standing after everything is done. It then describes them as standing ready, secured by truth, protected by righteousness, and prepared with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. Above all, they carry faith as a shield to extinguish every flaming attack of the evil one. They also receive salvation as a helmet and take up the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Teaching:
The full armor of God begins with the Word and ends with the Word. And the driving force is prayer—that is why we are told to pray in the Spirit. Let us not forget that our full armor is the Word.
We can fight only when we put on this armor. The full armor protects our soul, our body, our whole life, and every area of the life we live. So today as well, let us put on the full armor, fight, and overcome.
