Bible Reading - 1 Timothy 1:12~20

1:12 I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me faithful, appointing me to his service.

나에게 힘을 주신 우리 주 그리스도 예수께 감사하노니 그가 나를 충성된 자로 여기시고, 나를 그분의 사역에 임명하셨다.

1:13 Even though(~이었지만) I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, 

나는 한때 신성모독자, 박해자 그리고 폭도였지만

I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief.

나는 무지와 불신앙으로 행하였기 때문에 긍휼을 입었다.

1:14 The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. 우리 주의 은혜가 그리스도 예수 안에 있는 믿음과 사랑을 따라 내게 풍성히 부어졌다.

1:15 Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance:

여기에 전적으로 받아들여질 믿을 만한 말이 있다.

Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners--of whom I am the worst.

그리스도 예수께서 죄인을 구하시려고 이 세상에 오셨다. 내가 죄인 중의 괴수이다.

1:16 But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life.

그러나 바로 그 이유로 내가 자비를 입었으며 죄인 중에 괴수인 나에게서 그리스도 예수께서 무한히 오래 참으심을 보여 주셔서, 후에 그를 믿고 영생을 얻는 사람들에게 본보기가 되게 하시기 위함이었다.

1:17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen. 영원하신 왕, 썩지 아니하고 보이지 아니하고 홀로 하나이신 하나님께 존귀와 영광이 영원영원히 있을지어다 아멘.

1:18 Timothy, my son, I give you this instruction in keeping with the prophecies once made about you, 내 아들 디모데야, 내가 너에게 이 명령을 주는 것은 전에 너에 대하여 예언된 바를 따라 행한 것이니

 so that by following them you may fight the good fight, 1:19 holding on to faith and a good conscience. 

그리하여 네가 그들을 따라 선한 싸움을 싸우고 믿음과 선한 양심을 지키게 하려는 것이다.

Some have rejected these and so have shipwrecked their faith.

몇몇 사람들은 이것들을 거절했고 그래서 그들의 믿음은 좌초되었다.

1:20 Among them are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan to be taught not to blaspheme.

그들 중에는 내가 신성모독하지 못하도록 가르쳐 사탄에게 넘겨주었던 히메내우스와 알렉산더가 있다.
