However, in an emailed statement to The Korea Times, Mr. Hawthorne said that Hwang was his first choice and that he has ``no regrets'' about the decision. Mr. Hawthorne said ``I met with both without a preference for either, but once I had met both it was obvious that Hwang was the master and Lee was the student.'' ― ED.                                         정 정 기 사  </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE> 9월11일자 기사에서 미국 바이오 아트사는 복제개 사업을 주저하였는데 당초 루호손 사장은 사업의 성공을 위해 이병천을 선호했으나 최종적으론 황우석을 선택한 플랜 B를 택했다고 보도했다.   루호손 사장이 코리안 타임과의 이멜일 답변은 황우석은 그의 첫번째 선택이며 자신의 결정에 어떤 후회도 없다고 말했다. 루호손 사장이 말하길 "두사람에 대한 아무런 편견없이 만났는데 황우석은 거장(마스터)였지만 이병천은 학생수준이다"고 말했다.
