[Commentary(풀이)]
Sincerity(Seong) is the beginning of the Way (道 도, Do) in this scripture,
and Virtue(德 덕, Deok) becommes its source.
If we define the Way (道 도, Do) as Seongtong Gwangmyeong(性通光明,성통광명, -
realizing one′s true nature to attain divine brightness) and Virtue(德,덕) as
Jaese Iwha(在世理化,재세이화, - governing the world according to heavenly reason)
and Hongik Ingan(弘益人間,홍익인간, - broadly benefiting all humanity),
then the very beginning and source of this Morality(道德 도덕, Do - deok)
is none dther than Sincerity(誠,성).
