Conception dreams

Do you believe in conception dreams? What is the most impressive conception dream you’ve had or heard? I had two conception dreams. One was for my younger son and the other was for one of my nieces.
As you know, conception dreams or dreams before childbirth are considered to be signs for pregnancy. Many Koreans believe these dreams predict that a mother is pregnant. And they believe the things seen in conception dreams indicate that they may have a boy or a girl. Moreover some of the Koreans believe conception dreams give them an idea of the baby’s destiny. We know many great people’s parents or relatives had unique conception dreams for the great people. We witness the fact in biographies.
In fact, the conception dreams for my two sons were not that unique. So, I artificially made the conception dreams for them. I just told them a white lie to encourage them.
Here are the real conception dreams.
< For my older son>
My mother had the conception dream for my older son.
There were stacks of rice sheaves near the barn in which my mother had stored grains or agricultural equipment. The rice sheaves were really good and gold-ripe. They were piled up in rows. Actually, when she dreamt of the scene, the barn didn’t belong to her. It meant the rice sheaves didn’t belong to her. But she chose and stole the best rice sheaf among them.
<For my younger son>
I had the conception dream for my younger son. I went to a beach with my family. I don’t know who accompanied me. Anyway, they were not my family-in-law. We lodged at a house near the seashore. All of a sudden, I was totally alone by the seaside and an old woman came to me. She told me to collect shellfish together and we picked up some shellfish and shells and put them in a basket. One of them was sparkling in the basket. After collecting lots of shellfish and shells, I headed for the house. And I saw the house was burning in flames.
Here are the made-up conception dreams.
<For my older son>
When I strolled in a broad plain, a dragon was flying in the sky. All of a sudden, the dragon was flying towards me. Even though I ran and ran to escape from the fire-breathing dragon, the dragon flew after me with great force. When I virtually collapsed, I saw the eyes of the creepy creature and I accepted my fate. To my surprise, the fierce creature was not horrible. It gave me a warm look and sat next to me. I read its mind. It tried to carry me on its back. When I rode the dragon, it flew in the sky for a long time. Suddenly, the dragon flew towards mountains and passed into a waterfall. There was a dark cave in the back of the waterfall. I saw something sparking in the dim cave. It was a brilliant white gem.
<For my younger son>
When I strolled in a broad plain, a beautiful unicorn was running. All of a sudden, the unicorn was running after me rapidly. Because I was afraid that it might have kicked me away, I fled from the unicorn. As fast as I fled, the unicorn ran more rapidly. When I sank down onto the ground, the unicorn knelt down on the ground. The unicorn also wanted to carry me on its back like the dragon did. Of course, I rode the unicorn and the unicorn slowly ran in the beautiful plain. Suddenly, the unicorn changed its direction and rapidly ran until we arrived at the seashore. After it ran along the seashore for a long time, it knelt down on the sand for me to get off it. I saw several gems before my eyes on the sand. One of the gems was radiant blue.
In fact, I told my sons the real conception dreams and the made-up ones. I told a white lie that I dreamt of the dragon flying up into the sky and the unicorn running along the seashore. And I told them their granny dreamt of the sheaf of rice and the shell instead of me. When I tell my sons the real or made-up conception dreams, they are exited. Needless to say, they are much more excited, when they listen to the made-up conception dreams.
To sum up, mentioning conception dreams and believing in these dreams may be weird and foreign to Westerners, but Koreans tend to place emphasis on conception dreams. I’m one of them.
