Commentary on John 14 (3)
“If you had known me, you should have known my Father also: and from now you know him, and have seen him.” (John 14:7)
This is a bit of a difficult sentence.
The Gospel of John has easy sentences, but the meaning is difficult, and the Book of Hebrews has difficult sentences, but the meaning is easy.
‘From now on you know him and have seen him.’ These words of Jesus are completely the irrelevant answer.
When Thomas said, ‘Tell me where and how you are going, Lord,’ the Lord answered, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life.’ Then he said, ‘No one comes to the Father except through him, and you have known him and have seen him.’ He says.
This means that if you know Jesus Christ, you will know that God the Father is Him.
This means that when you are introduced to someone you have met before, you recognize him as if you were saying, "Oh, that's the person you met back then."
Therefore, rather than trying to know God, you can come to know God by deeply understanding Jesus Christ, whom God sent, the apostle and high priest of our faith.
The Holy Spirit teaches us about Jesus Christ, and Jesus Christ reveals God the Father to us.
So you must know Jesus Christ so that you may know the Father.
It means that if you know the way, you will also know the destination.
Jesus Christ is the way.
And Heavenly Father is our destination.
The destination of our faith is God the Father.
The goal of faith is not to live well on this earth and receive earthly blessings.
Faith is going to the Father and going to the Father's kingdom.
But those in darkness do not know the path Christ walks.
“Do not let your hearts be troubled” (John 14:1) These words were spoken to the disciples who were worried because they heard that the Lord was leaving.
Even now, many believers are shaken because they do not know the way the Lord is taking, that is, the way to the Father and the destination.
Being troubled means being shaken.
If you do not know the truth, you faith is always shaking because it is not clear how you follow Jesus Christ, how you come to God the Father, and what way your life is taking.
The way of worship, the way of prayer, the way of praising, and the way of meditating on the Word and the way of making it our own must be clearly established through Jesus Christ.
If you read that person's words or writings and listen to them, you can quickly find out whether they know the way to Jesus Christ or not.
If you listen to the sermon, the prayer, and the person's testimony, you can quickly see that that person either knows or does not know how to come the Father through Jesus Christ.
However, people who do not know the way have the characteristic of speaking more.
The reason for that is because he shoots like a bullet and has to hit anything.
However, those who know the way will teach you to follow that way directly.
Therefore, Christians must clearly know this way to the Father.
“You believe in God, believe also in me,” it means, “If you want to believe in God, believe in me.”
That is why it is said that if you know Jesus Christ, you know the Father.
And in John 14:3, the word “place” appears. “If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself, that where I am you also may be.”
Personally, I wish that the kingdom of God should not be called the kingdom of heaven, but rather called Father’s house as it appears in the bible. The place in verse 2 is the Father’s house.
But are we going to heaven? Is this heaven coming? Coming.
That is why we pray, “Thy kingdom come.”
In Revelation chapter 21, New Jerusalem comes down from heaven to earth, prepared as a bride adorned for husband. (Revelation 21:2)
Then, the kingdom of God is coming down, so why do we say we are entering it?
It is also said to enter through the narrow door.
The door is clearly open to those who seek it.
The kingdom of God comes to us, but we enter it through Christ.
So, it is correct to say that the kingdom of God is coming, and it is also correct to say that we are entering to the kingdom of God. The kingdom of God comes to us, and we work hard to enter his kingdom, so we meet each other there.
However, some people do not know the kingdom of God that has come to us and only hope for the kingdom of God they will enter the future.
But clearly Jesus said that the kingdom of God was near.
John the Baptist also cried out, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matthew 3:2).
Who does the kingdom of heaven refer to?
It refers to Jesus Christ.
The kingdom of heaven that Jesus Christ speaks of is the Father’s house (Matthew 4:17).
So, the testimony of John the Baptist extends to Jesus Christ, and through the testimony of Jesus Christ, we come to the Father through him.
This means that the law and the prophets end with Jesus Christ, and we come to the Father with grace and truth through Jesus Christ.
So, you must know Jesus Christ well.
Only then can we come to the Father.
That is why the kingdom of God comes to us, and we invade the kingdom of God through Jesus Christ.
The kingdom of God comes, we enter, and there we meet God the Father in Christ.
Heaven and earth, one pairs meet.
That is the same meaning as saying that God created man and woman, and that the male and the female become one pair.
Therefore, when reading the Bible, it is best to always think about the principles rather than just looking for methods.
In the spirit world there are no spatial gaps.
In other words, the spirit world only has dimensions and is not a space where we come and go.
Even when the kingdom of God comes, the kingdom of God and the kingdom of this earth are on different dimensions, so even if they exist mixed together, there will be no conflict.
Therefore, even though we are in the flesh, we can say that we are seated at the right hand of God in the Spirit of Christ (Ephesians 2:6).
Theologically, it is called a seat.
The seat of God can be our spirit and all things in the universe, but we can never enter there with our flesh and blood (1 Corinthians 15:50).
For example, when you think of the sky, where is it?
We think everyone is in over our heads.
But the sky is also under our eyes.
Even just 1mm above the ground is like sky.
When we think of the sky, we naturally look up, but the sky is also beneath our eyes.
It is either the earth or the sky.
And the sky on the other side of the Earth is beneath our feet.
Likewise, in our thoughts, when we think of the kingdom of God, we think of a place far away from us.
However, the spiritual world is not a world of space, but a world of dimensions. Right?
We may belong to this earth through flesh and blood, or we may belong to the kingdom of God through the Holy Spirit.
Even though our body is still here... Do you agree with this statement?
That's what it means to leave the body in its place and say that you have been born again.
That is why Jesus said to Nicodemus, ‘Unless you are born of water and the Spirit, you cannot see the kingdom of God or enter the kingdom of God’ (John 3:3,5).
Isn’t the kingdom of God there in front of Nicodemus?
It's right in front of him.
He is Jesus Christ.
He is the door and the way to the kingdom of God.
And He is one with God.
If you are not born of water and the Holy Spirit, you cannot see the kingdom of God, which is just in the front of nose, and you cannot enter the kingdom of God.
If you are not born of water and the Holy Spirit, you cannot see the kingdom of God, which is just in the front of you, and you cannot enter the kingdom of God that is right in the front of you.
Unless you are born again... that is why flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God.
You must understand all of these secrets.
So, regarding the issue of dwelling place, please do not think that we have to fly somewhere and have our mansion there, but rather think that that our dwelling place is in Jesus Christ, in the Holy Spirit.
That is why the psalmist sings, the Lord is my shield, the Lord is my dwelling place, the Lord is my refuge.
This means that God himself becomes our shield and fortress right in the place.
However, Abraham's reward and shield was the Lord, but Lot's reward and shield were Sodom and Gomorrah.
However, Lot eventually became a symbol of someone who was humiliated and saved, and although Abraham was invisible to the naked eye, God became his reward and shield.
That is a dwelling place.
This is what it means to hide me in a secret place.
So, like some pastors, when you say you're going to a refuge, you shouldn't say you're going somewhere by helicopter.
You can go there by helicopter, but is there a place on this earth where you can avoid God's disaster and the final tribulation?
You shouldn't say that.
You can't go there by helicopter or by spacecraft.
Some people are thinking of running away to Mars to play around with money, but I'm sorry, but that's just the earth.
You can't escape it.
The only place of escape is in Jesus Christ.
