Summary:
Paul calls the believers to have the same attitude found in Christ Jesus. Though He existed in the form of God, He did not regard equality with God as something to be grasped, but emptied Himself by taking the form of a servant and being made in human likeness. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death—even death on a cross. Because of this, God highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow—in heaven, on earth, and under the earth—and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Teaching:
The name of Jesus is the highest name above every name. When we call on the name of Jesus, all things in the world bow before His name. Therefore, when you believe in Jesus, believe sincerely, call on His name, and pray in His name.
Then, through His most exalted name, He will fulfill all the promises spoken to us.
When we meet the holy people of God in the church, we must meet one another as members of Christ’s body and in faith. As God’s children who have been saved in the name of Jesus Christ, when we meet one another, we become one family in the Lord. In believing in Jesus and in knowing Jesus, we become one, love one another, unite in love, and grow together in faith.
It begins with emptying ourselves and humbling ourselves.
