켐포 쑬띰 갸쬬 린포체의 질문: 16대 카르마파의 구술 가르침

"당신 마음의 본성은 어떤가요?"
16대 카르마파께서 저에게 물으셨습니다.
그 순간 제 마음은 생각이 없어져 자유로워졌고,
잠시 동안 말할 수 없었습니다.
결국 저는 대답했습니다, "제 마음을 분석해보면 찾을 수 없지만,
쉬고 있을 때는 명확합니다."
그는 웃으면서 말했습니다, "그래, 그것이 맞다.
모든 대상은 형상色과 공空의 불가분성이다.
모든 정신 상태는 명확함과 공의 불가분성이다.
모든 감정은 기쁨과 공의 불가분성이다.
이것이 그들의 진정한 모습이다; 그것들을 그렇게 인식하라."
잠시 동안, 스승님의 축복을 통해
제 마음은 다시 생각 없이 자유로워졌고, 저는 조용히 앉아 있었습니다.
그는 저를 바라보시고 말했습니다,
"그렇게 동굴에서 수행하라."
저는 다시 제 수행 동굴로 돌아갔습니다,
그의 말씀의 의미를 반복적으로 되새기며.
저는 그 말씀들이 짧았지만,
깊고 광대한 의미를 지닌다는 확신을 강하게 가졌습니다.
이 깊은 구술 가르침을 묵상하면서,
제가 그것을 받은 이후부터 현재까지,
저는 그것이 모든 경전과 탄트라의 깊고 본질적인 관점을 포함하고 있음을 이해하게 되었습니다.

Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche: ORAL INSTRUCTIONS FROM THE 16th KARMAPA «What is the essence of your mind like?» His Holiness the 16th Karmapa asked me. Immediately my mind became free of thoughts, and, - for a brief while, I could not speak. Eventually, I replied, «When I analyse my mind, I cannot find it, - but, when it is resting, it possesses clarity.» He laughed and said, «Yea, that’s it. - All objects are appearance-emptiness inseparable. - All mental states are clarity-emptiness inseparable. - All feelings are bliss-emptiness inseparable. This is how they truly are; recognise them to be so.» For a moment, through the guru's blessing, - my mind once again became free of thoughts, and I sat silently. He gazed upon me and then said, - «Practice like that in the cave.» I returned to my practice cave once again, - reflecting on the meaning of his words repeatedly. I gained strong certainty that, although his words were brief, - they possessed profound and vast meaning.
