Summary:
Paul tells the believers to let their minds dwell on things that are true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, of good reputation, excellent, and worthy of praise. He then calls them to put into practice the things they have learned, received, heard, and seen in him. As they live this way, the God of peace will be with them.
Teaching:
The epistles explain who Jesus is—the One we believe in—what He has spoken, how we are to receive His words, and how we are to live in the last days. All of this is the logic of faith, and this logic of faith itself is the righteousness of God. Therefore, the life of faith that lives according to the logic of faith must continue through the process of learning, practicing, experiencing, organizing, and then learning and practicing anew.
Whatever we say and whatever we do, we must pursue this complete faith. The logic of faith is not right simply because we think it is right; we must possess the logic of faith itself.
The church is a place where we learn.
