  Thoughts on Today's Verse

  He doesn't waver! Isn't that comforting? God is consistent and in his consistency, he gives good gifts. He created the

world in all its majesty and gave it to us to use. When sin strangled life, God gave us the promise and executed it through Abraham and the Israelites. When death claimed us, he gave us Jesus, crucified and resurrected, to give us the

assurance of our victory over sin and death. There is no shadow in that brilliant light and we are assured that light will

keep on shining!

  하나님께서는 변함도 없고 흔들리지 않으십니다! 위로가 되는 말씀이지 않나요? 하나님께서는 변함 없으시며 그 변함없으심 안에서 좋은 선물을 주십니다. 이 세상을 멋지게 지으셨고 우리에게 사용하라고 주셨습니다. 죄가 삶을 숨막히게 했을 그 때에, 아브라함과 이스라엘 백성들을 통해 약속을 주셨고 실행하셨습니다. 죽음이 우리를 내놓으라고 주장할 그 때에 하나님께서는 예수님을 우리에게 내어주시고 십자가에 못박히고 부활시키셔서 결국 우리가 죄와 죽음에 대해 승리할 것이라는 확증을 주셨습니다. 하나님의 그 환한 광채 속에는 그림자라고는 없으며 그 빛은 영원히 빛날 것임을 확신하는 것입니다!

  Gracious and generous God Almighty, thank you for consistently giving me your grace, your gifts, your love, and your

promises. I have no one; I have nothing, that compares to you. Thank you for all your many gifts in Jesus name! Amen.

  은혜로우시고 자비로우시며 전능하신 하나님, 제게 주님의 은혜와 선물과 사랑과 약속들을 변함없이 주시니 감사드립니다. 주님과 비교될 만한 그 어느 누구도 그 어떤 것도 없습니다. 예수님의 이름으로 제게 주신 수많은 선물들을 감사드립니다. 아멘.

  ● Compared “to” or Compared “with”?

- To compare to is to point out or imply resemblances between objects regarded as essentially of a different order;

to compare with is mainly to point out differences between objects regarded as essentially of the same order.

Thus, life has been compared to a pilgrimage, to a drama, to a battle; Congress may be compared with the British Parliament. Paris has been compared to ancient Athens; it may be compared with modern London.

- Is there a difference in meaning between the following two sentences?

We compared our results with previous years to see the difference.
We compared our results to previous years to see the difference.

Compared with and compared to are used interchangeably today, but do have subtle differences in meaning. If you wish to distinguish between them, use compared to when stressing similarities between the items you are comparing.

He compared the chocolate chilli chicken to the dog’s dinner.

Use compared with to examine both similarities and differences.

Australia is in a good economic position compared with other many other countries.
