Bible Reading - 1 Timothy 3:1~8

3:1 Here is a trustworthy saying: 여기에 믿을 만한 말이 있다.

If anyone sets his heart on being an overseer, 만일 어떤 사람이 감독이 되려고 마음을 먹는다면

he desires a noble task. 그는 고귀한 일을 열망한다.

3:2 Now the overseer must be above reproach, 이제 감독자는 비난받을 것이 없어야하며

 the husband of but one wife, temperate(삼가는), self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach,한 아내의 남편이 되어야 하며, 삼가하며, 절제하며, 존경받을만 하며, 접대를 잘하며, 가르칠 수 있어야 하며

3:3 not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not lover of money.

술취하지 말아야 하며, 폭력적이지 않고 온화하며, 다투지 말아야 하며, 돈을 사랑하는 자가 되지 말아야 한다.

3:4 He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect.

그는 그 자신의 가족을 잘 돌보아야 하고 그의 자녀들이 적절한 존경심으로 그에게 순종하는 것을 보아야 한다.

3:5 (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God's church?)

만일 어떤 사람이 자신의 가족을 어떻게 돌보아야 할지 모른다면 어떻게 하나님의 교회를 돌볼 수 있을 것인가?

3:6 He must not be a recent convert(개종자), 그는 최근 개종자이지 말아야 하며

or he may become conceited(자만심이 강한) 그렇지 않으면 그는 자만하게 될 수 있으며 

and fall under the same judgment as the devil. 그래서 마귀처럼 동일한 심판을 받게 될 것이다.

3:7 He must also have a good reputation(평판) with outsiders,

그는 또한 외부 사람들로부터 좋은 평판을 받아야 한다.

so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil's trap.

그가 수치 가운데로 떨어지는 것과 마귀의 함정에 빠지지 않도록

3:8 Deacons, likewise, are to be men worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging(탐닉하는) in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain.

이와 같이 집사들은 존경받을만한 사람이어야 하며 신실하며 너무 많은 포도주를 탐닉하지 말아야 하며, 그리고 부정직한 이득을 쫓지 말아야 한다.
