For when peaceful stillness compassed everything and the night in its swift course was half spent,
Un silence paisible enveloppait toute chose, et la nuit de la Pâque était au milieu de son cours rapide ;
Cum enim quietum silentium contineret omnia,
et nox in suo cursu medium iter haberet,
Your all-powerful word from heaven's royal throne bounded, a fierce warrior, into the doomed land,
durus bellator in mediam exterminii terram prosilivit,
gladium acutum insimulatum imperium tuum portans;
bearing the sharp sword of your inexorable decree. And as he alighted, he filled every place with death; he still
reached to heaven, while he stood upon the earth.
Fermatasi, riempì tutto di morte;
For all creation, in its several kinds, was being made over anew, serving its natural laws, that your children might
be preserved unharmed.
Tutta la creazione assumeva da capo,
nel suo genere, nuova forma,
obbedendo ai tuoi comandi,
perché i tuoi figli fossero preservati sani e salvi.
The cloud overshadowed their camp; and out of what had before been water, dry land was seen emerging: Out
of the Red Sea an unimpeded road, and a grassy plain out of the mighty flood.
terra asciutta apparire dove prima c'era acqua,
una strada libera aprirsi nel Mar Rosso
e una verdeggiante pianura in luogo dei flutti violenti;
Nam nubes castra eorum obumbrans,
e mari Rubro via sine impedimento,
et campus germinans de fluctu violento,
Over this crossed the whole nation sheltered by your hand, after they beheld stupendous wonders.
videntes tua mirabilia monstra
For they ranged about like horses, and bounded about like lambs, praising you, O LORD! their deliverer.
Come cavalli alla pastura,
come agnelli esultanti,
cantavano inni a te, Signore, che li avevi liberati.
Then he told them a parable about the necessity for them to pray always without becoming weary. He said,
"There was a judge in a certain town who neither feared God nor respected any human being.
And a widow in that town used to come to him and say, 'Render a just decision for me against my adversary.'
For a long time the judge was unwilling, but eventually he thought, 'While it is true that I neither fear God nor
respect any human being,
because this widow keeps bothering me I shall deliver a just decision for her lest she finally come and strike
me.'"
m’assommer.” »
tamen quia molesta est mihi haec vidua, vindicabo illam, ne in novissimo veniens suggillet me” ”.
The Lord said, "Pay attention to what the dishonest judge says.
Ait autem Dominus: “ Audite quid iudex iniquitatis dicit;
Will not God then secure the rights of his chosen ones who call out to him day and night? Will he be slow to
answer them?
I tell you, he will see to it that justice is done for them speedily. But when the Son of Man comes, will he find
faith on earth?"
Dico vobis: Cito faciet vindictam illorum. Verumtamen Filius hominis veniens, putas, inveniet fidem in terra? ”.

R. Remember the marvels the Lord has done!
or: Alleluia.
Sing to him, sing his praise,
proclaim all his wondrous deeds.
Glory in his holy name;
rejoice, O hearts that seek the LORD! R.
Then he struck every firstborn throughout their land,
the first fruits of all their manhood.
And he led them forth laden with silver and gold,
with not a weakling among their tribes. R.
For he remembered his holy word
to his servant Abraham.
And he led forth his people with joy;
with shouts of joy, his chosen ones. R.
Colpì ogni primogenito nella loro terra,
la primizia di ogni loro vigore.
Allora li fece uscire con argento e oro;
nelle tribù nessuno vacillava. R.
R/ Souvenez-vous des merveilles
que le Seigneur a faites.
ou : Alléluia !
Chantez et jouez pour lui,
redites sans fin ses merveilles ;
glorifiez-vous de son nom très saint :
joie pour les cœurs qui cherchent Dieu ! R.
Il frappe les fils aînés du pays,
toute la fleur de la race ;
il fait sortir les siens chargés d’argent et d’or ;
et d’Abraham, son serviteur ;

Jesus told his disciples a parable
about the necessity for them to pray always without becoming weary.
He said, “There was a judge in a certain town
who neither feared God nor respected any human being.
And a widow in that town used to come to him and say,
‘Render a just decision for me against my adversary.’
For a long time the judge was unwilling, but eventually he thought,
‘While it is true that I neither fear God nor respect any human being,

lest she finally come and strike me.’”
The Lord said, “Pay attention to what the dishonest judge says.

who call out to him day and night?
Will he be slow to answer them?
I tell you, he will see to it that justice is done for them speedily.
But when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”
aspettare a lungo?
“Rends-moi justice contre mon adversaire.”
Longtemps il refusa ;
