株守(주수)는 착함을 지키어 옮기지 않는 것이다.

  Ju-su(株守,주수) means guarding one′s goodness steadfastly without wavering.

성품이 부드러우면 착하여도 능히 착함을 밝히지 못한다.

  If one′s disposition is overly soft, even if one is good, one cannot fully illuminate goodness.

성품이 협소하면 착하여도 착함을 능히 통솔하지 못한다.

   If one′s disposition is narrow-minded, even if one is good, one cannot command goodness.

성품이 악하면 착하여도 능히 착함을 세우지 못한다.

   If one′s disposition is harsh, even if one is good, one cannot establish goodness.

스스로의 착함을 지키기를 줄기가 뿌리를 지키듯이 하여
하늘의 빛이 열리는 순간을 스스로에게 있게 하면 가히 그 福(복)을 받을 수 있게 된다.

  Therefore, if one protects  one′s own goodness as a tree trunk protects its roots,

   allowing the moment when heaven′s  light shines to unfold within oneself,

   one becomes worthy of receiving blessings.

株守者는 守善不遷也라  (수선자는 수선불천야라)

  Ju-su(Steadfast Guarding) refers to protecting goodness and never wavering.

性柔면 善而不能彰善하고  (성유면 선이불능창선하고)

  If one′s nature is overly soft, even if one is good, one cannot fully manifest goodness;

性俠이면 善而不能統善하고 (성협이면 손이불능통선하고)

  if one′s nature is narrow-minded, even if one is good, one cannot command goodness;

性弱이면 善而不能立선이니 (성약이면 선이불능입선이니)
  if one′s nature is weak, even if one is good, one cannot establish goodness.

自守善을 如株守根하여 天機自在하니 可領其福이니라 (자수선을 여주수근하여 천기자재하니 가령기복이니라.)

  Thus, guarding one′s own goodness as s trunk protects its roots allows heavenly wisdom

   to shine naturally, making one worthy of receiving blessings. 

 [Explanation, 풀이]

착한 사람의 성품이 부드럽고, 협소하고, 약한 경우가 있을 수 있다.

  There are cases where a good person′s disposition is overly soft,

   narrow-minded, or weak. 

이러할 때는 착함을 밝히지도, 통솔하지도, 세우지도 못하니 심히 안타까운 일이다.

  In such cases, they can neither illuminate, command, nor establish goodness,

  which is deeply regrettable.

이런 경우 나무줄기가 그 근본인 뿌리를 굳게 지키듯 인간도 스스로의 근본을 회복하여 지킨다면 
그것으로 부터 하나님(一神,일신)의 큰 빛이 열리는 순간이 스스로에게 있게 되는 것이다.

  In the state, just as a tree trunk firmly protects its fundamental root,

  if human beings restore and protect their own fundamental nature,

  the moment will come when the great light of Hananim(一神,일신 - The Supreme One God)

  opens within them.
