Part 2. Revelation

Revelation 2:18~29 - To the Church in Thyatira, adhered to the truth, but where false prophetess was active

Revelation 2:21 – I have given her time to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling

☞ <Revelation> 2:21 - I have given her time to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling.(NIV); And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.(KJV); I gave her time to repent, but she does not want to turn away from her immorality.(New Living Translation)

○ The object of repentance in <Revelation> 2:21 is fornication, that is, sexual immorality, and the subject of repentance is Jezebel, the false prophetess. However, as I already mentioned in <Bible Matrix ⑦_186>, I have failed to identify exactly who Jezebel was in the period of the church of Thyatira (AD 27~100) as well as the Middle Ages (AD 538~1,517).

☞ From this point of view, as I already mentioned in <Bible Matrix ⑦_190> and <Bible Matrix ⑦_191>, maybe, the subject of repentance was the guilds, trade unions of the community. Through group activities of a guild, church members of into sexual activities associated with worship, that is, worship and sexual immorality at religious feasts.

☞ Even now, many churches and church members are struggling with sexual immorality. Netflix's documentary series as 'I Am God: Those God Betrayed', which opened in March 2023, is a representative example of Jezebel’s sexual immorality. In the future, these kind of Jezebel’s sexual immorality will occur countless times.

☞ As I already briefly mentioned in <Bible Matrix ⑦_179>, in <Revelation> 17:4~5, the future Jezebel as the great prostitute appears. In 17:4, it reads, “The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and was glittering with gold, precious stones and pearls. She held a golden cup in her hand, filled with abominable things and the filth of her adulteries‘’(NIV), and in 17:5, it reads, "Babylon the great, the mother of prostitutes and of the abominations of the earth”(NIV), and 17:18, it reads, “the woman is the great city that rules over the kings of the earth”(NIV), and therefore:

☞ Looking back on the past history (AD 538~1,798=1,260), even to this day, the Holy See (or Vatican) is the Independent City-State as well as the form of absolute monarchy as the State of the Vatican City. So far, we don't know how things will change in the long distant future, but this woman may or can be said to be the next Holy See that its home may be in Babylon.

○ Jezebel in the Old Testament - As I already mentioned in <Bible Matrix ⑦_187>, the subject of repentance in the Old Testament was definitely Jezebel (c.BC 870~BC 841) (2 Kings 9:30~37). Jezebel was the queen as the wife of King Ahab (reign, 874 BC~BC 853), the 7th king of the Northern Kingdom of Israel (BC 931~BC 722), whose capital was Samaria.

☞ The end (or death) of Jezebel who did not repent  - Even until she was executed in BC 841 by the 10th king Jehu (reign, BC 841~BC 814), she painted her eyes, arranged her hair, looked out of window and scolded Jehu, so she showed a stubborn and cheeky attitude (or arrogant appearance) of not repenting. (2) Jezebel was eventually caught by two eunuchs and thrown from a high window in the castle, and her body was eaten by wild dogs, leaving only her skull, her feet and her hands to die a miserable death. (3) Jezebel tried to kill Elijah(1 Kings 19:2), despite hearing the prophet Elijah's warning to repent, by burning sacrifices with the fire of the LORD God and killing 850 prophets of Baal and Asherah (1 Kings 18). (4) Jezebel did not follow Ahab, her husband, who confessed his sins and humbled himself before the LORD God after being rebuked by Elijah (1 Kings 21:17~29).
