Summary:
Paul affirms that the Philippians did well by sharing with him in his hardship. He remembers that, from the beginning of his ministry after leaving Macedonia, no other church partnered with him in giving and receiving except them alone.
Even while he was in Thessalonica, they sent help for his needs more than once. Yet Paul makes clear that his main concern is not the gift itself. What he truly seeks is the spiritual fruit that increases to their account.
Teaching:
The first way you help this church is by helping the pastor. This is beneficial for you. When we look at the holy people of God who help their pastor, we can see that God helps them.
On the other hand, when people are always arguing right and wrong with the pastor and are stingy toward him, their lives often become harsh and narrow, regardless of their financial situation.
Those who help the pastor are helped by God. According to their needs, God may guide them to a new workplace, bless their business, and resolve matters concerning their children. This is the righteousness of the kingdom of God.
Therefore, become faithful workers of this church. Please become good partners with me. Do not merely attend church, but become holy people of God who participate in the ministry.
