                                     그 성읍중 하나로 도피하여 생명을 보존할 것이니라

                                                                   (신19:1~21)

신19:1   네 하나님 여호와께서 이 열국을 멸절하시고 네 하나님 여호와께서 그 땅을 네게 주시므로

Deu19:1   When the LORD thy God hath cut off the nations, whose land the LORD thy God giveth thee, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their cities, and in their houses;

신19:2   네 하나님 여호와께서 네게 기업을 주신 땅 가운데서 세 성읍을 너를 위하여 구별하고

Deu19:2   Thou shalt separate three cities for thee in the midst of thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it.

신19:3   네 하나님 여호와께서 네게 유업으로 주시는 땅의 전체를 삼구로 분하여 그 도로를 닦고 무릇 살인자를 그 성읍으로 도피케 하라

Deu19:3   Thou shalt prepare thee a way, and divide the coasts of thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee to inherit, into three parts, that every slayer may flee thither.

신19:4   살인자가 그리로 도피하여 살만한 경위는 이러하니 곧 누구든지 본래 혐원이 없이 부지중에 그 이웃을 죽인 일.

Deu19:4   And this is the case of the slayer, which shall flee thither, that he may live: Whoso killeth his neighbour ignorantly, whom he hated not in time past;

신19:5   가령 사람이 그 이웃과 함께 벌목하려 삼림에 들어가서 손에 도끼를 들고 벌목하려고 찍을 때에 도끼가 자루에서 빠져 그 이웃을 맞춰 그로 죽게 함 같은 것이라 이런 사람은 그 성읍중 하나로 도피하여 생명을 보존할 것이니라

Deu19:5   As when a man goeth into the wood with his neighbour to hew wood, and his hand fetcheth a stroke with the axe to cut down the tree, and the head slippeth from the helve, and lighteth upon his neighbour, that he die; he shall flee unto one of those cities, and live:

신19:6   그 사람이 그에게 본래 혐원이 없으니 죽이기에 합당치 아니하나 두렵건데 보수자의 마음이 뜨거워서 살인자를 따르는데 그 가는 길이 멀면 그를 따라 미쳐서 죽일까 하노라

Deu19:6   Lest the avenger of the blood pursue the slayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and slay him; whereas he was not worthy of death, inasmuch as he hated him not in time past.

신19:7   그러므로 내가 네게 명하기를 세 성읍을 너를 위하여 구별하라 하노라

Deu19:7   Wherefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt separate three cities for thee.

신19:8   네 하나님 여호와께서 네 열조에게 맹세하신대로 네 지경을 넓혀 네 열조에게 주리라고 말씀하신 땅을 다 네게 주실 때

Deu19:8   And if the LORD thy God enlarge thy coast, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, and give thee all the land which he promised to give unto thy fathers;

신19:9   또 네가 나의 오늘날 네게 명하는 이 모든 명령을 지켜 행하여 네 하나님 여호와를 사랑하고 항상 그 길로 행할 때에는 이 셋 외에 세 성읍을 더하여

Deu19:9   If thou shalt keep all these command thee this day, to love the LORD thy God, and to walk ever in his ways; then shalt thou add three cities more for thee, beside these three:

신19:10   네 하나님 여호와께서 네게 기업으로 주시는 땅에서 무죄한 피를 흘림이 없게 하라 이같이 하면 그 피가 네게로 돌아가지 아니하리라

Deu19:10   That innocent blood be not shed in thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and so blood be upon thee.

신19:11   그러나 만일 사람이 그 이웃을 미워하여 엎드려 그를 기다리다가 일어나 쳐서 그 생명을 상하여 죽게 하고 이 성읍으로 도피하거든

Deu19:11   But if any man hate his neighbour, and lie in wait for him, and rise up against him, and smite him mortally that he die, and fleeth into one of these cities:

신19:12   그 본 성읍 장로들이 사람을 보내어 그를 거기서 잡아다가 보수자의 손에 넘겨 죽이게 할 것이라

Deu19:12   Then the elders of his city shall send and fetch him thence, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die.

신19:13   네 눈이 그를 긍휼히 보지 말고 무죄한 피 흘린 죄를 이스라엘에서 제하라 그리하면 네게 복이 있으리라

Deu19:13   Thine eye shall not pity him, but thou shalt put away the guilt of innocent blood from Israel, that it may go well with thee.

신19:14   네 하나님 여호와께서 네게 주어 얻게 하시는 땅 곧 기업 된 소유의 땅에서 선인의 정한 네 이웃의 경계표를 이동하지 말찌니라

Deu19:14   Thou shalt not remove thy neighbour's landmark, which they of old time have set in thine inheritance, which thou shalt inherit in the land that the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it.

신19:15   사람이 아무 악이든지 무릇 범한 죄는 한 증인으로만 정할 것이 아니요 두 증인의 입으로나 세 증인의 입으로 그 사건을 확정할 것이며

Deu19:15   One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.

신19:16   만일 위증하는 자가 있어 아무 사람이 악을 행하였다 말함이 있으면

Deu19:16   If a false witness rise up against any man to testify against him that which is wrong;

신19:17   그 논쟁하는 양방이 같이 하나님 앞에 나아가 당시 제사장과 재판장 앞에 설 것이요

Deu19:17   Then both the men, between whom the controversy is, shall stand before the LORD, before the priests and the judges, which shall be in those days;

신19:18   재판장은 자세히 사실하여 그 증인이 위증이라 그 형제를 거짓으로 무함함 것이 판명되거든

Deu19:18   And the judges shall make diligent inquisition: and behold, if the witness be a false witness, and hath testified falsely against his brother;

신19:19   그가 그 형제에게 행하려고 꾀한 대로 그에게 행하여 너희 중에서 악을 제하라

Deu19:19   Then shall ye do unto him, as he had thought to have done unto his brother: so shalt thou put the evil away from among you.

신19:20   그리하면 그 남은 자들이 듣고 두려워하여 이 후부터는 이런 악을 너희 중에서 다시 행하지 아니하리라

Deu19:20   And those which remain shall hear, and fear, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evil among you.

신19:21   네 눈이 긍휼히 보지 말라 생명은 생명으로, 눈은 눈으로, 이는 이로, 손은 손으로, 발은 발로니라

Deu19:21   And thine eye shall not pity; but life shall go for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.

   하나님의 나라는 너무나 귀중해요...

   "The kingdom of God is very precious."

   어떤 한사람 한사람 각 사람에게 하나님의 귀하신 사랑을 베풀어 주시니 감사함이 넘칩니다.

   "I am overflowing with gratitude because God pours out His precious love on each and every person."

   혹여 부지중에 누군가가 잘못된 일을 당하여 어려움에 처하였을 지라도 결코 그를 그저 내버려 두시지 않으시고 살아 갈수 있는 방편을 항상 마련하여 주시는 은혜가 풍성하고도 귀한 하나님의 넘치시는 사랑이십니다.

   "Even if someone unknowingly falls into wrongdoing and faces hardship, God never leaves that person alone. His abundant and precious grace always provides a way to go on living-such is His overflowing love."

   주님께서 보셨을 때는 정말 모레 알보다도 작을 한사람의 고통을 돌아보시고 그를 살리시기를 기뻐하시는 하나님이심을 알게 하십니다.

   “When seen in the Lord's eyes, even the suffering of one person-smaller than a grain of sand-does not go unnoticed, He looks upon that pain and delights in saving them. This shows us what kind of God He is."

   성경에 등장하는 많은 인물들이 때로는 자신의 문제로, 때로는 주님께서 맡기신 부르심의 일로 인해 곤경에 처했을 때에도 하나님께서는 결코 그들을 홀로 두지 않으셨습니다. 오히려 그들을 통해 하나님의 사역을 이루어 가셨습니다.

   “Many figures in the Bible, at times because of their own struggles and at other times because of the calling the Lord entrusted to them, found themselves in difficult situations. Yet God never left them alone; rather, He accomplished His work through them."

   우리의 눈에는 보이지 않아 하나님께서 어떻게 역사하시는지 모든 것을 다 이해하거나 깨달을 수는 없지만, 지금 이 순간에도 우리가 알지 못하는 어느 작은 곳에서 고통 속에 울며 주님을 간절히 찾는 이들을 일으키시고 친히 역사하시는 하나님이심을 우리는 믿습니다.

   “Though we cannot see with our eyes how God is at work, and cannot fully understand or comprehend all that He does, we believe that even at this very moment He is raising up those who cry in suffering and earnestly seek the Lord in places unknown to us, and that He Himself is working among them."

   어떨 때는 사람들을 통하여 그들을 돌보아 주시고 위로 하시며 어떤 때에는 하나님의 섭리가운데 능력을 베풀어 인도하시는 놀라우신 하나님이십니다.

   "Sometimes, God cares for and comforts them through people, and at other times, in His divine providence, He is indeed a marvelous God."
