Bible Matrix ⑦: Historical & Scientific Views on Daniel and Revelation
Part 2. Revelation
Revelation 2:18~29 - To the Church in Thyatira, adhered to the truth, but where false prophetess was active
Revelation 2:23 – I will repay each of you according to your deeds
☞ Revelation 2:23 - I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds.(NIV); And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.(KJV); I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am the one who searches out the thoughts and intentions of every person. And I will give to each of you whatever you deserve.(NLT)
○ The words of Jesus, “I will repay each of you according to your deeds” appear six times in the New Testament, <Matthew> 16:27, <Romans> 2:6 , <Revelation> 2:23, 20:12, 20:13 and 22:12. This refers to ‘the law of reward or repay’ of Jesus in the final judgment of <Revelation> 20:12~15.
○ There are two types of resurrection. According to <Revelation> 20:4, those who participate in the first resurrection, the resurrection of/for/to eternal life, must be the souls who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus Christ. They will be priests of God the Father and of Jesus Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years in <Kingdom of The Thousand Years>, which may begin c.AD 11,800~. Also, the second death has no power over them (Revelation 20:6), and they will be given authority to judge those who participate in the second resurrection, the resurrection of/for/to judgment as written in <Revelation> 20:12~15..
○ The words of Jesus, “I will repay each of you according to your deeds,” specifically refers to the second resurrection, the resurrection to judgment, as written in <Revelation> 20:12~15, which briefly introduces the process of judgment.
☞ At this time, looking at the English bible, they are expressed as 'deeds' in NIV, 'works' in KJV, and 'whatever you deserve' in NLT. In my view, I think the KJV expresses it best. In a word, the reward is determined by the quality of the works and how much 'works' have been done.
☞ <Revelation> 20:12 - And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books.(NIV); And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.(KJV); I saw the dead, both great and small, standing before God's throne. And the books were opened, including the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to what they had done, as recorded in the books.(NLT); I [also] saw the dead, great and small; they stood before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is [the Book] of Life. And the dead were judged (sentenced) by what they had done[their whole way of feeling and acting, their aims and endeavors] in accordance with what was recorded in the books.(Amplified)
○ Later, in the resurrection for Judgment (c.AD 12,800~), the 2nd resurrection, the final judgment of <Revelation> 20:12~15, I will explain in detail, how to be resurrected, how to be judged, what is the books that the 2nd resurrected have, what is the Book of Life that Jesus has, how the Book of Life is related to ‘the seven spirits of God’, how the dead will be judged according to what he had done as recorded in his books, and how fire will test each person's value (or quality) of work, etc.
