Summary:
Paul reminds the Thessalonians that his visit to them was not empty or without result. Although he and his companions had already suffered and been mistreated in Philippi, they still had boldness in God to speak the gospel to the Thessalonians amid much opposition.
Their message did not come from error, impurity, or deception. Instead, they spoke as those approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel. Their purpose was not to please people, but to please God, who examines the heart.
Paul also emphasizes that they did not use flattering speech, nor did they come with hidden greed. God was their witness. They did not seek glory from people, whether from the Thessalonians or from others, even though they could have asserted their authority as apostles of Christ.
Teaching:
A church worker must examine their first love and their original sense of calling. Just as Paul repeatedly and strongly appealed to his mission and ministry, we also should be holy people of God who can reaffirm our first love and present it before both God and people, so that our faith will not be in vain and our work for the church will not be in vain.
